Comments

rolliiiiiiing thundeeeeeeer hahahahah lol

Lisandro

How about the "fly high" and sparrow and also add a single falling crow feather too? Like have fly high with a falling crow feather beneath the writing and then the sparrow next to it?

Yumaaa

omg i cant wait to see how the tattoo is gonna turn out to be

bebe

If you guys continue watching sports anime I highly recommend Ace of Diamond. It is full of amazing characters and is a good watch even if you don't know a lot about baseball.

Japan technically does not have a junior college. I'm putting it in a context where it is a similar stage where some countries have junior college before university so they can sort of understand. To explain a bit more some countries go from Secondary school to Junior college and then to University so they don't have high school in their education system.

Phyllis

I don't think high school and junior college are the same thing in Japan. You have to graduate from high school before you can enroll in a junior college, which offers a degree after 2-3 years of study. As Ron noted, it's the same/similar to the US community college system, which provides an Associates degree after completing a 2-year program.

Also crows will have much significance for a Naruto character you are yet to meet and that I think Ron will like

BloodyShrimp

飛べ is imperative form conjugated from the verb 飛ぶ which means "to fly" but also "to jump" which is why they use it for the banner as they jump and fly on the court and crows fly as well. Here's dictionary definition of the word for your tattoo reference https://jisho.org/search/%E9%A3%9B%E3%81%B6

BloodyShrimp

the tournaments are so hype im so excited for the dateko match :D

storm (kasey) !

my bad, I tried to avoid those and completely forgot that point. It's modified !

Frëyr

Michelle is right about the ref hand signals in volleyball. Pointing in means in, pointing out means out. Whichever team he points his arm to gets the point. If he shows his hands like hes touching the net, it was a net touch.

Prateek Sridhar

Date isn't pronounced like the fruit or the calendar date. It's pronounced like how they're pronouncing dateko, excluding the ko part.

Prateek Sridhar

Teddy is the "Cheesana kyojin" (little giant) xD

Prateek Sridhar

Your first point is a spoiler, how do we know the third years will still stick around?

LandMarkMetal

Hey, little trivia about the tournaments: - There are 2 tournaments per year so this is the first one but they'll have another one later that year. - Only the first spot for the Miyagi Prefecture will go to nationals. Tokyo has two spots since they have a higher number of teams competing in their region. - The prefecture that hosts the national tournament has a bonus qualifying slot. - You probably noticed this but Nekoma is in the Toyko prefecture so they won't face Karasuno unless both teams go to nationals and are lucky enough to be in the same side of the tournament tree (donno if i'm clear here ahah). That's also why there's never been an official game Karasuno vs Nekoma. If I forgot something don't hesitate to correct me and i'll modify / add it !

Really, I love Aoba Johsai's so much more. Both are good, but aoba johsai always gets me pumped up.

LandMarkMetal

I love the music when they show the montage of those who have lost.

hurryupmode

Where can i get those jackets?

AJ Lab

Don’t forget about crows in Naruto 👀

Ameed Abuzahrieh

As much as I love Karasuno, Dateko has the most catchiest fan chant ever! It’s going to be stuck in my head all day!

To Ron, just to let you know before you go ahead with your tattoo, the word 飛ベ means " to fly" not "fly high". Just some extra info: Japanese school system primarily consists of six-year elementary schools aka Primary School (6 - 11 yrs old), three-year junior high school aka Secondary School or Middle School (12 - 14 yrs old), three-year high schools aka Junior College or Polytechnic Diploma for other countries (15 - 17 yrs old), followed by a four or five year colleges aka University or Technical College (18 yrs old~). Six years at elementary school and three years at junior high school (total 9 years) are compulsory. What I learned from Haikyuu about volleyball is when the Line judge points the red flag down and in towards the court it means the ball was IN/Inbound. When raising the red flag arms straight out, means the ball was OUT/Out of bounds.

Phyllis

How many tattoos does Ron have? The fly high tattoo in Japanese would be sick!! 😄

vee

love the nails Michelle!! ❤️

vee

The timing when Ron said, "their future's so bright," and the white haired guy cast a shadow on Hinata was a bit crazyy.

Kusokabe Nabs

In volleyball matches, when a line ref points their flag down at the court, it means in! Any other flag positions mean the ball landed outside the court or there was a player foul :)

Ty Haom

Ur brain and ur heart will explode saison 2 3 and 4 😱😱🤯🤯😎

Clement

This episode never fails to make me cry. I always lose it in the first half, lol.

Betty H

DAAMNNN THOSE JACKETS ARE HARDD. Excuse me maam and sir where may i get one?

shouvik das

Yea I lost in the finals my senior year. I never cried so hard in my life

Vaguely Vivid

About Tattoo, do a crow with sharingan eye. its 2 anime in one go. and much, much later you will find out what that crow is ;3

Turzy

⚠︎⚠︎Ron!!!! Please don't say that you want to tattoo Fly High in Japanese because when you search for a translation it will show 高く飛べ=takaku tobe!. The meaning of the Karasuno team flag is 飛べ=fly! - it encourages the Karasuno members to give their best and embrace the nature of the team as crows as it is natural for crows to fly, so this team will reach high levels. It would be awesome to have the Chuntarou with the Fly! flag on the background as a tattoo. 🌟

Ana Ignat

@ 7:11, I flinched when I saw that ball coming, then I saw Ron doing the exact same 😂

Hertog

Yeah flag down is in and flag up (or both of the refs hands up) is out!

Teresa

Can’t wait for season 2 ….it has the best vibe.

Lee

Rolling thunder again 😍😂

Tini loves-NOYA❤️ #remsubaru

This episode is what solidified this show as one of my favorites. The concept of there always being Winners and Losers. I wish Crunchyroll added this like Netflix did in their subtitles but in some other subs they include subtitles of every single team they show there that lost during the montage of the teams that all lost this season. This show may glamorize sports and always seeing the protagonist means you're watching a lot of winning but the show does a great job of highlighting so many different teams and characters to bring that perspective. :)
