To make one more comment regarding Ron wondering why one would give them great power/chakra if they will just end up dying. The reason is as you guys know by now they live in the ninja world, where even children are being trained to fight/kill. They do this because this is their protection and service for their village and alliance villages. In the case for example, a small group of leaf ninja's were surrounded by enemy team, Lee could use that power to sacrifice himself and have the team escape. (Just and example) I find that the 8th gate is more of a sacrificial tool, used to protect others for their own life. Or used in absolute death situations to use against strong opponent.

For me personally these were some of my favourite ep of Naruto, not Naruto Shippuden. With that said, I would say wait until you finish Naruto Shippuden for a tattoo idea. I will say this, Rock Lee is an amazing character for me. But, my number 1 favorite is Guy Sensei. I wish I could say more on why but I don't want to spoil anything from Shippuden. If you chose to get Rock Lee by all means do so, such an incredible person! Also, Rock Lee may have lost the fight, but gained EVERYONES (viewers and in anime characters) respect in one way or another. Also, for me and a lot of us I watched this quite young, around 9 or 10 years old. Rock Lee was such an inspiration for us as kids, wanted to push our selves and giving 100% in anything we did. Now watching this as an adult I find it incredible how relateable it still is. RESPECT to Rock Lee and Guy Sensei!
