Idk man. I honestly feel like getting slapped for going into a room you're not supposed to go, being forced to stand outside in a corner is pretty tame in terms of bad parenting in anime. Like, shit endeavor was a worse dad than shiggys dad lol

You definitely see it spread from the ground to the building (something he didn't touch). Food for thought.

What makes this even more sad is not only the generational trauma but the fact that his mom was ready to walk out that night. It came too, too late. Can't help but tear up when his mom still attempts to hold him while crumbling apart.

So, just as we are understanding what happened to Shigaraki, he himself is also recollecting all these thoughts and after so long recalling what had happened. I can only imagine what he must have felt having that brought back all of a sudden.

She already had One for All at that point, and she was scared All for One would go after him. Also, please tell me you guys are going to watch the opening at some point. It's honestly really cool what they did with it.

2023-03-21 02:16:05 +0000 UTCGosh, this episode is always so hard to watch. It makes you wonder if there's a system that could have been implemented to prevent this kind of devastation. Like do you monitor all kids around that age at all times, or is the range of ages too wide for that. I have no idea if they ever address this in the manga, or if it's just the luck of the draw that his was such an awful quirk. I feel like good quality therapy at schools could've also helped minimize the rise of 'villains' since most lose their sense of belonging. Where were all of the Professor X's in the world? lol. Such a real show in its parallels.

Just saying just in case later you ask "why does he only 2 fingers" later on the show. 👍

The thing is bad parenting has real life consequence even in our world, imagine those consequences when the kid actually has abilities like Shigaraki, Toga, etc. The consequences get multiplied. There is no reaction without an action, and this story shows that yes while some ppl do take the wrong routes in life...its never fully on their own.

2023-03-20 21:26:23 +0000 UTCMan rewatching his backstory always makes me cry. My Hero did a masterful job with the adaptation here. Due to censorship they aren't able to show the pure gore of the situation like they do in the manga. In the manga the dog and his whole family fall into the pieces you see on the ground and never are like dust. It just bloody chunks falling in the mid air and it's horrifying. I'm surprised they went as gory as they did for the TV anime. I always find it hilarious watching people react to my hero from the start and talk about how it's not that dark of a show and then they get to this backstory and are like "damn..."

2023-03-20 21:08:47 +0000 UTCYou are right it is closer to an anxious tick. He only scratches when hes stressed. Also you are right that is the same lady in the picture. It is extremely unfortunate because all he wanted to be was a hero. Hes basically Deku but with a family thats against him. I find if personally heartbreaking when he repeatedly says "thats not what I wanted them to say". Adults tend to push off kids with "dont cry" so that they dont have to deal with it. His upbringing (minus quirks) is unfortunately EXTREMELY realistic as I had a VERY similar upbringing. One parent dominating the household with radical opinions and control plus unneccsary punishment while the kid is like the emotional punching bag for everyone. "Dont cry" "dont be a baby" "tiptoeing around your feelings" etc is something myself and others I have met have heard a hundred times over from adults growing up.
