Youtube Videos Update

Hey Sushi Squad - You may have noticed a good amount of our reaction videos were removed. We unfortunately were hit with multiple copyright strikes at once from 2 of the big companies who have been going after a lot of creators on Patreon as well. Its really sad. (We literally just hit 100k😭) Would be lying if we said we were not freaking out. But we will get through this. And will update you all a long the way. For the time being, we are not allowed to upload anything here on Youtube, and will be making all of our videos private as we try and get this resolved.

We will be updating you all here as soon as we have any info on what our options are and what is going to happen next. Your support here is the only thing keeping us sane atm. So thank you all.

We are talking with Youtube and are also reaching out to Viz...

Honestly, they have been taking down stuff that breaks the law, particularly on Patreon. You can't show full episodes without the rights, don't you think? But obv Sushi Squad is not criminal, just sad they got into this situation without ill intentions.

Susanom

That's terrible, I guess people cant react to anything anymore. Honestly it was probably getting more people to watch the anime. You guys are broadening peoples anime choices.

Troy Yarnall

I don't think its that they're dumb but naive. They don't want others to make money off their product so they target them but they don't know that reactors are a way of introducing people to new anime. Like if I see my favorite reactor watching an anime I've never seen before, you bet I'm watching along with them and who knows that might be an anime I start watching on my own time.

Another idea you can try that I’ve seen people use is storing the videos on like Google drive or mega and sharing the link to users who are active on Patreon. Whether you share the link of an individual video or anime series, that seems to be at work around some patron people have done.

In regards to patreon vids, if things don't improve another idea might be just showing the video timer and just have us press play at the same time as in the video.

Maybe if you had to show less per episode you could combine certain shows? Like combine an episode of opm with an episode of demon slayer (just random examples) so the first ten ten to fifteen minutes of a video is one show and the last ten to fifteen is the other. This way you would have less footage of each show without creating pauses that are too long? I don't know, but I am confident your ability to endure and succeed. When I was in the military we had a saying, "slow is smooth, smooth is fast". Take your time and work through the mistakes and you will benefit in the long run.

Hi, I have a small channel on youtube and I've already receive strikes for Slam Dunk reactions and other anime shows. My channel was about to shut down (I had 35 strikes at once) but if you contest with your explanations about the fact that your content is centred(sorry for my english, I'm french) on your reaction and not on the show that you are using fairly to create your proper content.(etc.) When you do a contest for all your videos that has been blocked, Youtube can "freeze" your channel, without closing it and if the company that claims rights on your videos is not going further (court etc) the videos are unblocked and you can have back your channel ! If I remeber well, the company has 1 month (or 2 weeks) to review your demand or youtube give you back your channel like I said. I hope it can be a good news for you to know that, keep it positive ! =)

Great sources for inspo! I'm sure if you messaged them, they would gladly share their knowledge!

Im sorry that this is happening to y’all. What did you guys do that trigger a viable copyright strike. Don’t repeat it with any media. That way none of your stuff is touched. I’ve joined from youtube from your AOT videos and i love your reactions. I hope you’re able to keep MOVING FORWARD #eren

Reginald Leandre

Thank you everyone for all of this. Agree with all of you. Very sad and unfortunate. I wish we just knew what was accepted and what is not! We have tried our best to get semi watchable content on Youtube while also not showing or playing too much of any episode. So we will be looking at other creators and also trying to reach out to legal around fair use policies to really understand what we can do to avoid claims. for example: only show a certain amount of the she show (10 min or less). Or Pause more. etc. Not entirely sure what works. But looking at big channels like yaboyroshi and the normies for inspo

Michelle Lam

You will get through this no worries. It will just be a bit of a process and adjustment. Be grateful you were able to build a a great following before getting hit. The good thing is we will still be here after the adjustment.

Scar

Sorry that happened to y’all I hope it gets sorted out ASAP

TChang23

It's an unfortunate mess, it's literally free advertising for the companies that made the anime. They should be supporting content creators not attacking them. I could understand if they contacted you with rules for reacting to their content, but they could show some support for what is essentially helping them. Would be nice to see some sort of movement started to push back against what they are doing. I hope you don't let this get you down, I know how stressful and scary it can be. Stay strong

Mystic_ramen

Japanese are extremely dumb when it comes to media distribution and marketing. Anime have become popular worldwide in spite of japanese companies not because. And now they don't get what reactors do so they ban them too.

Susanom

No

EdEddandEddy_

This is such a mad industry, where the people who keep audiences engaged, build a community, explore the topics and characters of the shows in a public setting, get pissed on by the organisations that have made so much money from them

Tom Kilworth

Hope all is well for both of you! Meanwhile, hope you can check our Dragon Sword by Hound13. I think both of you will enjoy this very short game trailer.

Jaylious Yew

Sushi Squad is always here and we always got your back!✨

Subzero Anime

😕 I feel reactors support the companies products (the anime and the company name). Personally I watch some animes because of some reactors

ouken equinox

maaan they're going after alot of channels lately. if you guys want to still do content id recommend doing alot of gaming streaming on twitch since you can still bring in income without a copyright problem

Brandon Tyson

Everyone here in this community has your back and we support you the whole way. We all hope this gets resolved fast for we all love you guys and your amazing contents

Nightwing

Hope for the best

Justin Moore

I understand striking patreon because its all unedited footage but youtube videos? Its heavily edited and under fair use. So sleezy.

Burning Talons

I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say we're in full support of you as a community. Y'all just take the time to figure this out and we're with y'all every step of the way!! It's always all love ♥️♥️

Luka Zrnic

Hope this gets resolved quick love your content. Hope these greedy fuckers lay off reactors.

John Paul

No worries, many creators are doing the same due to everything that has been happening. Just know we will continue to support because we understand it is not your fault.
