Upload Update

Hello Sushi Squad,

As we are going through this copyright takedown fiasco, we've decided to pause uploads for the next couple of days as we figure out how we should move forward in terms of editing our reactions to comply with the copyright laws. We are figuring out what is the best way to share our reactions on both Youtube and Patreon. Please continue to share ideas! We have heard of timed reactions (not ideal), also links hosted on different platforms such as discord/streamable etc. We are open to anything. Really we will see how others are doing it and make sure we give the best experience to you all.

We haven't finalized any decisions yet, as we are still brainstorming and talking with other creators about how they are handling this, but we will of course update y'all.

For now, we've released the last 2 Season 5 MHA episodes and the final Season 1 OPM episode (on our website) since we will be having the end of season livestream for both shows tonight! But there will be no other uploads for the next couple of days.

Thank you guys for being patient with us and sending us so much positive energy and love during this scary time. We appreciate y'all so much <3

I'm thinking they paused completely but I'm on their adorable website! love it!

Reggie Azem

Look up SMF ( Jami UwU ) She has been doing this for along time, she know how to avoid all the copyright stuff. Cause I cant wait to see you guys reactions with naruto and my hero!

Firewolf

Personally I would go for the way smf_frieza Has her patreon set up. 85% of the stuff she reacts to is anime and she’s been Posting videos on patreon since 2018. And many of her videos are still up From 2019 and a she has a very high Fanbase, Much like fellow reactor, Animaechan. But all she does is post links of her reaction videos in google drive or streamable and just post the password or something on it. Seems like that would be an easier method also because there’s less editing involved. But that’s just my opinion.

josie miles

Id recommend checking out the way Sarah Pavan does her videos! It’s worked so far and she hasn’t had problems with uploading as far as i know. Stopping the video every now and then to give commentary might also help as well, as i’ve noticed other anime reactors do that to avoid copyright

sab

I wanna watch a haikyuu ep so bad

Jericho Paulo Ramirez

true that making their own website would mean no copyright strikes but they might get a copyright lawsuit since the problem isn't where the content is but what the content is.

Trandon

@Bettyy H Timer-based reactions are the safest way to go about legally but not financially as they will lose subs, views, and patrons since, you may have already noticed, not many people like it. So there should be this balance between legality and fans. But idk I'm just dumb

Trandon

From my understanding, you can still get a copyright lawsuit even when you move to a different platform as the content is still the same. The problem isn't where the content is but what the content itself is.

Trandon

Noooo I’m so sad I’m sorry this is happening 😭

Diego Sandoval

they have put there posting on a short hold according to discord, shouldn't be too long

Riley Hughes

They won't upload for a couple more days I'd imagine. They are trying to figure out how to move forwards currently, so we gotta be patient :(

Charles Cow

Is Re:Zero episode 4 out?

Sambat Phu

Bro what 😂😂😂

Burning Talons

I think it’s fine in the intrem till they figure out how give the full reaction so we still have it and can do it if possible

Jordan

Posting reactions on discord would work as well

Fernando

No, no they arent. They are terrible and remove the ability for mobile viewers to watch.

IAmRolfie

I don't know if anyone suggested it yet, but I've seen another reactor on patreon posting the vimeo version for an episode (not the link but the actual video), and when you click the play button you just have to enter a password. Maybe it could be a quicker way other than your website with multiple password access (:

Vera Bes

Timer reactions are completely fine and are done by 90%+ of all reactors.

Jay Craig

NO TIMES REACTIONS PLEASE

IAmRolfie

This!!!

IAmRolfie

Website is a bit funky plus other shows plus youtube uploads

IAmRolfie

Im begging you not to do timer reactions, they are genuinely the worst type.

IAmRolfie

I hate y’all are going through this !!

Ahkenaton Furdge

You're probably right lmao

Melker Linderoth

you are still going to be subscribed until april 5 or something so it's not gonna change much

Normadus

Am I too dumb to understand this or it's work of "google translate" ? :|

Normadus

#freericeandginger

John Paul

I hope all things work out soon i love you guys content and pay for my great subscription, another thing that is great! is Michelle's inability to give birth. He doesn't approve of you, but i think the entertainment is great sauce!!!!

Brie Reia (bribri0775)

damn i was hoping for a haikyu ep but we still here to support yall!!

Frenzy

My bad, if they have 3rd parties pretending to be regular users, i do not see how

Susanom

Why don't you put a password on Vimeo and post videos?

수빈kr

If you fight to the death, I will be with you til the end.

Mouson

I don’t watch all of their content but from what I’ve seen most of it are links to their YouTube of the 10 min cut stuff. Only some of their major ones do they post the actually video on Patreon and those too are the 10 min cuts which should follow fair use laws. Again I said I didn’t know much on it and was just sharing what another reactor said when they were asked about timer reactions. Wasn’t trying to anger anyone just sharing what I heard from the grapevine

Gavin Daniels

Should I cancel my sub for the time being?

PokeTheBear

Maybe just blur the heck out of the picture, but leave the subtitles?

Emily Cupchak

oh thats sad :/

Mochii

Streamable , Mega or Dailymotion

Todd Williams

I do hope you still post non timed reactions for shows with no strikes 😔

tskjn

GoogleDrive uploads can get flagged unfortunately. It happened to me when I did reactions a few years ago. Dealing with copyright bots is a pain so I gave up. :( From what I've seen from other reactors, either Vimeo or Streamable would be the best options.

Rustic Randy

Thanks for the update. Hope you guys figure something out soon. But the most important thing is that you get it right, so you don't get in more trouble

Leona DiCarryo

Idk if this works, but you can try upload on gdrive then sharing links here. Just throwing out random idea.

Mochii

Other creators that I follow have no problem with the copyright (MHA). They put the video on Vimeo with a password. When they post the new post on Patreon, they give the link of the video and the password. No problem at all. Timed reactions is the worst case for most of the people. For Timed reactions, we can only watch the video on PC because we need to launch 2 videos in the same time. It's not possible on phone and tablet. I love your reaction but if it become a timed reaction, I will unsubscribe because I watch your reaction on tablet or phone.

開き抜き

Timed reactions or videos moved to another websites works for me. Not a huge deal for me

Erick

yeah , I already saw few creators that decided to do it with only timer and it ended up with subs and views dropping like crazy. The reality is that, there is a lot of people making reactions, so most of people go to watch someone else, instead of wasting time of timers

Normadus

If you watched normies , then you would know ,that they still show a lot of scenes from anime.

Normadus

i have one more question … if you guys are pausing videos, are you gonna upload the videos you missed? like if you come back on monday- will it be two episodes friday and monday or just the episode you missed replaces the other one? (haikyuu)

ashiya

Yeah the timer/sync thing is a deal breaker for me. It’s too much of a hassle

Samurai_X_420

i never watch timered stuff cause it's really complicated and my device would lag a lot have to play 2 things at once lol i believe posting it on other website will be the best way !

adam

Nothing has been decided yet, but if you are a mobile watcher or concerned about the viewing experience please DM "klub" (klub#0480) on discord. I would like to get some feedback for potential new changes. - klub

klub

yeah agreed

adam

Watch the opm ova S1 before season 2👍

MhdAfi

The normies absolutely do not only do timer based. They mainly do the opposite.

Waver

yeah no worries i completely get it. i’m sure your problem is much greater than we know so i hope everything works out soon! i might even be getting a computer in a week so if i do i’ll stay!! 🫶🫶 thanks for replying even though you’re probably busy.

ashiya

Well this just defeats the whole purpose of Patreon:( i hope they won't do that

FW

Thats insane. How can a company claim content when they show NOTHING! lol

Michelle Lam

Totally fair, if we had to move to times reactions I am sure a lot of people would choose to leave. And I get it. This is why we are looking for other options now before deciding on anything

Michelle Lam

Sucks you may have to start doing timer sync reactions but I watch others who use that format so won't make me unsub! Hope it all works out for you guys

Kubochaan

Yah legally it seems the safest. But I know a lot of people prefer not to do this. So we will use as our last resort, but exploring all options

Michelle Lam

I think something like this is probably the best option. We are working through this now. We also, now need to figure out how to edit our Youtube videos as well as this stuff.

Michelle Lam

Thank you! We honestly want to use timed reactions as our last resort. But nothing is off the table rn. Just keeping our channels up is top priority.

Michelle Lam

Yah i dont like times reactions either LOL

Michelle Lam

yah we would like to avoid those at all cost tbh. Just sucks we are at the mercy of others.

Michelle Lam

@susanom, if you know of a way please share it with us!

Michelle Lam

So sadly its not just companies. It is suspected that There is an actual 3rd party individual who is signing up to peoples Patreon accounts. With that said, its not as easy as just make a post on patreon with the link and password. Because they would see it and have it as well.

Michelle Lam

Love this. Ultimately we would love for you all to vote on the best experience for you all.

Michelle Lam

+1

x Fake

I heard the normies got hit pretty hard too and they pretty much solely do timer synced reactions. I’m not fully educated on how it went for them but just sharing what I’ve heard. Sorry that y’all gotta deal with this and confident you’ll find a solution that works best for you guys

Gavin Daniels

May be worth looking into how Neel Desai runs things. He does a great job with those, but I will say that pulling up a bunch of windows for run time stuff is never fun, and I even have three monitors so not sure how people feel with one or if they watch you guys through an app. If you do end up doing run timers, I will say that I have seen other content creators allow a picture in picture mode for their patreon reactions where you can enable it and patrons simply set the square overlay wherever they want on their screen as an overlay while you watch along. With that, people with one monitor (or even multiple) could dedicate the same screen to both the episode and the reaction. I'd highly recommend just looking at all the options available. Sorry you guys are having to deal with all of this mess!

Nick is Rad

Can’t say I like the idea of the timer and the whole reason I’m subscribed is because of full reactions.

Hertog

I'm wondering, what about us who see the reactions on mobile phones? How can we deal with timer/sync and two screens?

Wansleepygal

Didn’t say it was difficult. I can’t have two browsers open side by side on my computer, so I would need two devices, which I don’t have. But thanks for the input.

Devron Love

You don't need 2 devices to watch with timed reactions, just open up 2 browsers, 1 for the show and 1 for their reaction and put it side by side...its not difficult

Charles Cow

You can also make post for specific series like Naruto ,upload reactions to vimeo or streamable and update post with links. Or you can do like YaBoyRoshi and make spreadsheet on google docs with series , give as link and update them daily. It should solve all problems

Normadus

you already made your own website so whats the point of timer ?? :| Just post links here to videos on your website. I personally hate dealing with timer , I almost never watch full videos but specific scenes and skip others. So if patron gets timer and YT gets compilation of best moments ( with freedom to rewind or skip ) , it's not going to be worth to watch here.

Normadus

Also, maybe you guys can have it edited somewhere at the beginning that says your reaction video isn't a replacement for the show and the viewers would need to find their copy of the show from somewhere. I don't think it would hurt at all to put that somewhere while potentially shielding you guys from copyright strikes.

Astrea

Most of the big time anime reaction reactors have gone through this scary time at one point or another, and they fight it and pull through, usually without making any big changes but that’s because they are generally within the fair use guidelines to begin with. I think you guys will pull through just fine, though I realize how scary this is and can be. I personally think the idea of your website and having the reactions on there is the best idea. The synced reactions are okay if you have two different devices, which not everyone does so that would be a bummer since I wouldn’t be able to watch along with you guys at that point. But you guys have to do what’s best for you and your channel, I’m sure it’ll work out though but still good luck guys! 😁😁

Devron Love

Only downside of going for timed reactions is that it completely eliminates one of my favorite things about reactions, listening with headphones. No footage going along with the reaction, no headphones, no rush of excitement… Not to mention, you guys can’t skip or pause cause then it ruins the sync for everyone watching.

Matthew Richson

I'm completely fine with timer reactions as I'm used to setting it up. If y'all do choose timers, the biggest concern would be us the audience being able to sync up the anime to your reaction. It would be very helpful if you show the anime footage, edited if needed, at the start for just a couple of seconds to help us sync up. I know you guys often do quick pauses during reactions but ideally, you wouldn't for timers (so no skipping OPs). If y'all do pause, then again, show the anime for a short bit. Another option to help sync up with timer reactions is to edit the anime footage to just show the subtitles. If these options aren't within fair use, I don't know what is lol

Astrea

I wouldn't mind having full timer reactions to sync up with, but as others have mentioned, Maybe don't skip intro's and no discussions until the end of the reaction? As I think you pause quite a lot and it might be hard to keep in sync with you guys. Hopefully you get a good solution 😅

Mickey

Sorry that you have to go through this. I understand why the anime companies are doing this since it is for copyright reasons and the animators and creator hardwork but it just sucks for reactors who just wanna post reactions for the community.

Phyllis

Thats pretty much what Autosave is doing and they had no issues with copyrights. Tbh I will watch less this way but i will continue to sub on Patreon

Thomas Reinhardt

Timed reactions is when there is no video being shown just a time and you have to pull the show up on another monjtor

Burning Talons

you should honestly post links to a vimeo site, or use a google drive account to post links there directly. timers are complicated man lol

Shay by Le Portier

Isn't timed reactions the same thing? Or do I just not understand lol

Kayla Grabow

Thats a good idea. It is what the other reacion channels i watch do. I feel it does not really hinder the experience since that editing style is the norm for youtube. If you want the full uncut video then come to patreon.

Quiet Whyit

idk if i’ll stay a patreon since timers are super complicated and it kind of limits how i can watch tbh. i really enjoy the content though and i’ll check every now and then to see if it’s changed! also, is there no way to upload your reactions onto your website like opm?

ashiya

I’m also completely fine with timer based reactions! Another patreon I subscribe to also does exactly this: edited down for YouTube, and timer for Patreon. On an anime company standpoint, it shows that you aren’t providing the show for us and it only makes sense.

Betty H

Yep, I missed that too. It's def possible to post the password in a way the companies don't know.

Susanom

would it be better if you posted the reactions on your website and post the link and password on an exclusive discord server?

Williamern

i am subscribed to other reaction channels who do synced reactions and its really not that difficult to get used to !! just some tips if you do start doing it this way please do a countdown to when you press play so its easier to sync up and leave the intros playing so we don't have to resync <3 sucks that all you guys are going through this, I know other reaction channels are having these issues but it is what it is i guess :/

mar

Hopefully it works out for you guys. Sucks that it happened just after you went fully committed to reacting. Personally timed reactions are too bothersome for me, reactions are supposed to be light entertainment so I will stick to youtube's 10min. Plus after you watch OPM s1, nothing you react to is interesting to me, OPM s2 is made like garbage in my opinion. Hope you watch Death Note or HxH.

Susanom

Timer reactions would personally destroy how I'm able to watch most of your videos, but it is what it is 😞

Divine Simp

that's what I'm thinking too. unless I'm missing something as to why that wouldn't be possible

N J

I agree about the discussion thing, not judging but you guys do need to work on those some, most of the time they are like 20 seconds long 😂 but also keep the balance between saying your thoughts and stretching it for the sake of it being longer You guys will get through it I know you will. Keep your heads up. Shinzou wo sesageyo!

Ace

Enjoy your weekend guys

Jay Craig

Is it not possible to keep uploading the reactions with the video footage on your website like with OPM?

Nich Robles

It's so unfortunate that the companies are choosing this route. Obviously there is a market to be filled here, they would be better served to find a way to work with reactors. There were a couple of guys back in the early 90s or late 80s that hacked into a Nintendo console and modified some games (can't remember the actual details) Nintendo, rather than suing, invited them to Japan to work together. This ended up helping Nintendo stay on the cutting edge specifically bringing about Starfox and the beginning of 3d open world gaming. These anime companies are missing a big opportunity by attacking content creators rather than trying to work with them to build something. Sad.

Mystic_ramen

Honestly watching the videos on your website is much better than watching on Patreon because i can adjust the quality and other stuff. Is it possible for you guys to upload all the other videos on there then just give us the link and the password like you used to do few months back

FW

No, the patreon will have timer reactions and youtube will have 10 minute edits. Says it right in their post.

matthew bremmer

I think full timer/synced is when you need to bring up your own episode and combine it with the reaction.

Susanom

Yep, but they said that is going to be just for YouTube, Patreon will have full time apparently

Ana luiza Silva Rodrigues

I personally dont mind the timer reactions at all. Just dont skip the openings if you go that way. Makes it double the work for the viewer to resync, lol

flashyflash77

Same, really sorry if this happens.

Dom2791

The anime has a 10 minutes screen time, so the people who watch the video olny see parts of the anime they're reacting, (unlike these reactions where you have the anime on the screen ALL the time) kind like what The normies do on YouTube

Ana luiza Silva Rodrigues

Take all the time you need. We will be behind any decision you make. Love you guys and we will get through this 🫶🏻❤️

Katelyn Koehler

You guys should try diferrent kind of ways to make the videos and upload them, then we can give you feedback of how good or bad it is, so we can find a commom and better way to deal with the Copyright problems while having good react video. Anyways hoping for the best *fingerscrossed*

Ana luiza Silva Rodrigues

Someone enlighten me what this timer/synced are

FW

Hate to say this but timed reactions and i’m going to have to end my sub. Too much hassle. I still recommend just uploading copyrighted vids to a streamable server. This whole situation sucks.

Burning Talons

Timer reactions are honestly not bad, most reactors I've subscribed to do it and as long you can sync your own video perfectly it's still the same enjoyable reaction. I wish you guys the best of luck with all this stuff going on!

Kyuujeonj

Damn I'm so sorry😞!!! I know my other fav creater gotgames is dealing with this too :( I hope it all goes well

ミッシェル

Is hosting everything on the website a problem? If people are paying thru patreon anyways, whats the issue with what you're already doing with OPM??

Bungkai

Are we getting haikyu today ? 🥲
