I was hoping they'd react to it post war but due to the way they integrated the flashbacks in-between a Canon war arc episode and then part of another, it would be tougher to skip since they would need to pause when Canon ends and then skip to 458 and go to middle-end of episode for the Canon stuff.... Although I prefer the Itachi ones more than the Kakashi ones.

I never feel that previous episodes (kakashi-yamato-itachi story) are "filler episodes". for me, it's just a flashback. It is a filler (not in the manga), but doesn't feel like it. A filler is like when someone who has already gone one episode but is somehow still in the village on the next episode, eating ramen and doing pranks and stuff like he never left.
