Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - Episode 6

Comments

Exactly even if there are Japanese 30-40% it's not a good reason to only watch subbed. Every single one of their viewers speak or understand English or else why would they be watching an English reaction if they don't understand the reaction. That would basically just be watching the show and listening to people speak a language you dont understand because R&M do not put English subtitles over their own comments. 100% of this channels viewers understand English.

hockeyplaya1155

I dont think anyone who watches and pays for a english reactor doesn't understand English. Its not like you have subtitles so they can understand your reaction lol. Even if they are Japanese speaking I bet 100% speak or understand english

hockeyplaya1155

FMA manga (2001-2010) aired *wayyyyyyy* before AOT manga (2009-2013). So technically AOT copied/drew inspiration from FMA. Put some respect on this OG masterpiece lolol jk

JaJa

Ron and everyone who compares this to AOT, please understand that this came way before AOT and AOT ripped off this its well known that the mangaka took insparation from this show, so please for the love of GOD this came first dont disrespect this 10/10 with that 7 maybe 7.5/10 lmfao

Kokyloco7

I feel Ron about the yellow subtitles. I wish it was the normal white and maybe a different font but it is what it is. Y’all should check out the dub moments eventually like with Naruto

Kayso

I just noticed Edward's voice is Hange (Aot).

This anime is literally 10/10

Alexander Nguyen

I’ve seen a good 200 anime and this my all time favourite

Arz.09

Tbh I totally get Rons point to understanding better In Dub (atleast at times) and I do feel bad because this is one of the few shows (imo) where the dub is actually good.

Stellarnut

Side Note, getting “cancelled” nowadays just means you get more famous and more fans lmao

Stellarnut

It’s ok Ron, it’s not racist if they say it that way.

Stellarnut

FMA manga came out in around 2001 and ended 2010. The FMA anime was aired in 2003-2004 and the FMAB(remake true to manga) was aired 2009-2010. AOT manga was released in 2009 and anime was aired in 2013. It is common to see similar tropes in mangas and animes hence the similarities. Ideas and inspiration could have been gotten from older manga/anime and inspired new mangaka when they create their own new story.

Phyllis

Same man I feel like they should have tried dub and sub and picked what they prefer cause I’m sure they would have went with dub for this one, but I still enjoy the reaction either way

Chayanne Acosta

I guess it would 😂

Prateek Sridhar

@Mason Fam, there is obviously gonna be a difference between real life interactions and online interactions. It's just how people are going to be when it comes to stuff like this. Sughandi broke it down already but to say it once more, just because a person is subscribed doesn't mean they'll interact through comments and messages, especially if they don't have to, and especially in another language. Voting and watching is EASY though.

botanbutton

There is an after credits scene for this episode btw.

William Wynn

@CE Ong I can't understand it either to be honest. But I'm glad you're here! 😊

botanbutton

so would the art of ron be ronjutsu?!

Michelle Lam

we see them randomly but its usually just for cargo. Its not like in other countries.

Michelle Lam

Not racist. In fact, I appreciate Ron being able to do impersonation and imitate Japanese accent etc. That’s how it used to be back in the days before everything became racist, sexist etc. And I say that as an Asian myself.

stedeu

Fullmetal Alchemist was way before AOT, i think FMA manga came out 9 years before AOT. I think the manga was finished right after the first chapters of AOT started coming. So if something AOT and alot of other shows draws inspiration from older shows as Naruto, Full metal Alchemist, Bleach, One Piece etc. And thoose shows was surely inspired from shows/manga/novels before them. But as Ron pointed out, when this type of storyline is done good, we all love it :)

Nex

Their not “refusing” to cater to anyone. They put up a poll and the sub won. By your same logic if 30% prefer dub then 70% prefer the sub or 7000 people. The choice seems pretty clear to me.

Atomicslug63

日本人じゃないけど、日本語してる人はここにいるよ-! I'm Singaporean and English is my first language, but I'm wired to watch Japanese anime in their native language. Can't fathom why some people feel the need to project their preferences on others.

CE Ong

I don't usually comment, but just wanted to thank you for reacting to this show. It's probably in my top 3 of all time, especially Brotherhood. Thank you for doing it subbed as well.

UrhoK

You could be right, I dont even know. Im not gonna even speculate anymore because these metrics are so weird looking. Yaboyroshi: Almost 1mil subs on YouTube, translating to 20K patreons. Sushi squad, 180K subs on YouTube translating to 10K subs on patreon. Sushi is outpatreonning them pretty hard lol Also, reading my posts over again, Im coming across more of an a-hole than I actually intended to. Ron was just right when he said "this is probably gonna upset some people" XD Ima just drop the subject tho from here on. peace gang

Mason

Half agree with you. But we didnt sub to those channels, we subbed to this one. What the other channels are covering doesnt matter. We dont care about them. If I wanted to watch somebody else react to it English, I would've subbed to that person. The reason the other reactions channels reacted to it in English is because this is the most obvious series in the entirety of anime history to watch in English. It's common sense. Not just the main character, but SEVERAL side voice actors won the anime equivalent of an oscar for their performance in the series. It's the only anime to have so many winners for BTVA. Ball dropped.

Mason

What do you mean? So if I stick 40 Japanese people in a room with 60 English people, the Japanese people are all just gonna stop talking? Theyre going to turn mute? That's not based in logic.

Mason

The argument of "they watch everything subbed" can be flipped as an opposite argument. 99% of reaction channels watch FMAB dubbed, so for once people who prefer subs get to watch a reaction subbed

Pizza_Mozzarella

Italian Japanese here living in Tokyo japan

Luchi

It's really not that surprising. Yaboyroshi's patreon is about twice the size of this one and they have 100% english comments, yet they're so popular in Japan that they were featured on live TV in Japan and have had more than 1 interview with broadcasters out there. There's over 10k paid members currently and there's less than 5-10% of that reflected as comments across the board, so commenters don't really make up the majority of patrons

Sughandi

One of the main reasons I like Dub is because of these fast moving shows with lots of information and because the humor comes off more clearly to English-only speakers. I'd say I'm here for your experience, so that's why I voted for Dub so you would enjoy the show more. I'd almost argue it's not inclusive to lock Dub away from your first watching experience because others prefer Sub for themselves - and for us to see that play out. The choice was made though, I'm enjoying the reaction, just know it could be better.

CallmePadre7

I'mma do a roll call for the Japanese sushi squad to raise their hands! 日本人のすしスクワッド!ここにいますか~ 手上げてださ~い!大丈夫ですよ。😊 o(*^▽^*)┛ ただただの挨拶したいです

botanbutton

Uhhh, 30%-40% Japanese fans are not gonna respond in an all-English comment section on Patreon. That's not gonna happen, at all.

botanbutton

There are only a few anime with top tier DUB, this is one of them. I swear if you guy get to DBZ and do sub I can't rock with ya anymore 😢

Juan G.

I can see your lips opening a little bit Ron when you're reading subtitles don't get hard on yourself Big Bro. i find it cute that ur struggling to read

Ron Jackson Jr

Even if it says people are subbed from Japan doesn't mean they are Japanese it could be 1 of 2 things. People using a VPN to access anime or people like me living in Japan be it for school or military. I been subbed since Demon Slayer. I have met maybe 2 people who spoke Japanese here.

GD LoreRiley

Disagree with this. If two kids are fighting over a toy every day, do you think it's reasonable for a parent to always give the toy to the same kid and justify it by saying "it's simply not feasible to cater to both of you. I'm just doing my best to split things up"

Dale Diaz

The only exception I can think of is Cyberpunk Two facts: 1. 99% of their reactions are in sub. 2. Both FMA series are arguably the best English dubs of all time. Despite both of those facts, they still chose to react to the sub version. So I would not say your statement: "they did the best they could to satisfy the majority of their patrons" is true even a little bit. If 99% of their content is subbed, then this, of all shows, was the one to watch in dub.

Mason

Listen I aint some tech wizard, but good ole' fashion common sense tells me that there is not a snowballs chance that 40% of their subs are Asian. Like 90% of them would have to know English for the comment section to be looking like this and that's just not realistic. I have not seen a single comment written in kanji, hiragana or katakana in my entire time subbed here. Those metrics are skewed.

Mason

Loving the vids and sub grew on me by ep 2. Curious if you guys are planning on doing a dub v sub for some of the scenes in this like u did for pain and madara?

Landon Shell

said this exact thing in discord last week. almost half the fans are japanese but 100% of the community interaction is english. that's wild. 100% gotta be vpn. Which makes sense because weebs will have japanese VPN's for certain anime that airs early over there

Dale Diaz

absolutely refusing to? its simply not feasible to cater to both audiences, they did the best they could to satisfy the majority of their patrons

andrew hsu

30 - 40% Japanese fanbase...? But 100% of the comments are English? Sounds like it's just English peeps using a VPN to access Japanese anime sites lol I wouldnt trust that metric at all fam. And even if that number is true... Say only 30% of your fans cared for Dub... That 30% is over 3,000 people you're absolutely refusing to cater to. I wasnt really that bothered by it until it happened to this show, of all shows, and are now implying that a dub show will never happen at all. This is literally why the electoral college exists in America XD That 30% is not the majority, but it's still a massive number of your overall paid subscribers. There's no good dubs left to react to though. So..

Mason

But you watch ENG sub

jeremychavez

To be fair you can put dub with subtitles as well for the non English speakers. Ya and the yellow is bad.

Nicolas Olivas

Alchemy is "Renkinjutsu" in Japanese. And "jutsu" means technique, so it's usually preceded by something and would mean the art of whatever it is preceded by :p. Like the art of sword fighting would be called "Kenjutsu" coz "Ken" means sword,

Prateek Sridhar

I grew up next to train tracks. We have a lot of trains running in the USA where are you from you’ve never seen a train in the USA?

Saith Uchiha

Man, Winry's relationship with Ed and Al is so adorable😭

Usher

FMA was around 2003. FMAB was around 2009. AOT wasn't until about 2013. Lots of anime for sure use similar tropes

Boggie

Jutsu in general is "method" or "skill" so it makes sense lol Not tryna sound like a smartass or anything just a fun fact😂

Usher

Just in time to watch on my break!!
