2024-09-26 21:49:25 +0000 UTCYeah watching weekly since 2016 is probably why we have different perspectives on him. Cuz it probably seems like forever since he’s done something cool for you. Characters are just put with tropes. His trope is the scaredy cat. He kinda reminds me of like awake zenitsu in that sense lol. But his Zenitsu Locked In moment won’t happen until near the end. Everyone has their dreams it wouldn’t make sense for his dream of a brave warrior to be accomplished way before everyone else’s. So odas probably handicapped to keep him scared until the end where he has his “Zenitsu Locked In Moment”

And yea he hasn’t had an upgrade in a while to his kit but hopefully will get something in the new arc up to date

2024-09-26 18:49:46 +0000 UTC**Spoiler** Each arc focuses on a few strawhats. His last main arc was Dressrosa. That might seem like a while ago until you realize he wasn’t in whole cake and it was basically only Wano that he didn’t get any crazy moments. If you’re watching weekly and at a slower pace it probably seems like forever since he did something cool. But I started watching last year and dressrosa doesn’t seem too long ago for me. So maybe cuz of that I don’t feel like Usopp has anything to prove rn. Cuz we know what his arc is gonna be, and that’s the arc that the manga just started on. If you look at other characters feats the monster trio is always up there in almost every arc, but you look at other characters they gotta wait there turn. This is Robins arc and she doesn’t really get another arc to shine until like Wano. Besides the monster trio most strawhats are like a revolving door on their impact during specific arcs. Usopp does get scared but the stakes are higher and he still fights. In Wano him and Nami fought together and he also saved Kinemon while fighting so many beast pirates. He was scared but he didn’t run away. I like all the strawhats, there isn’t one that I don’t necessarily like. It’s okay if Usopp your least favourite but I wouldn’t say he’s a bum or a bad character. He adds tons of value and has some of the best moments from the strawhats. I never minded his wimpy personality throughout the show EXCEPT the time they were in the ****SPOILERS AHEAD*** underground factory in Dressrosa and everyone was literally getting clapped EXCEPT for him and he STILL decided to dip. Like, my Nika, this was after your freaking time skip, the F you doing ? Yeah, I think that's really the only time I thought less of him.

If you think about it Ussop is the most realistic member the all have power ups devil fruits training but he’s the only building himself with basic weapons. Even nami wouldn’t be as helpful if it wasn’t for Ussop

He’s a sniper yet he was taking care of the ship repairs he was building weapons he comes up with plans and everything.

Has a connection with every crew member and adds a lot of comedic value. He doesn’t need to have a crazy fight scene to still add value to the show. And when he does do something cool I feel like it’s more satisfying cuz as a fan of the Strawhats you’re still rooting for him. Stakes are higher so you look more in the monster trio. He’s not my favourite strawhat but I’d say he’s top 5. They’re all good tho imo.

In the same way, Luffy invited Zoro because he his just so bad ass and a powerful dude with principles. While he invited usopp because he liked him and that almost all. I still think usopp is his best buddy. Usopp feels responsible for losing the money to fix Merry as they need Merry in good condition to continue their voyage. Rmb Kaya gifted Going Merry to Usopp and Luffy. To Usopp it was a precious and important gift from an important friend/person and for Luffy it is his first actual ship as a Captain. Usopp may be weak but there are things he place more importance in certain situations such as this than his life and safety. 😢 Oh man~ the next 2 ep I hope you guys are ready~

He’s definitely one of the most human characters in one piece and one of the most relatable. In my opinion he adds a lot of emotional depth to the show. He might not be a crazy fighter like Zoro but he adds a lot more to story.
