They are iconic, still love them till this day and are one of my favorite songs of all anime i've watched so far. The same goes for some OP/ED for Brotherhood.

The non-canon full metal alchemist movie (not brotherhood) is based in an alternate reality and features all the characters *literally* in post World War 1 Germany. This is why there are so many characters with blonde hair and blue eyes, while the Ishvalans are inspired by Jewish and other middle eastern cultures.

The 2003 adaptation still has some of the best OP & ED music tho, imo. Crystal Kay (my jpop queen for life) became one of my favorite artists because of her song (Motherland!) being used for an ED back then.
