I think you cannot copy a ninjutsu unless you have the chakra nature required. The Uchiha clan had hundreds of people, and lots of people had Sharingan, but most of them weren’t as good at using Sharingan as Kakashi, even with their Uchiha bodies.

Ofc. most people expected him to survive (afterall he's the MC), but still, noone would say back then "How would he have Boruto?" XD
