2024-11-18 17:56:22 +0000 UTC@SJG I'm not sure about other countries but in Japan young children are said to be able to see some spirits when they are below the age of 7 and when they grow up, they tend to not be able to see them after and forget since they were still at a young age whenthey could see them. When Aira saw Silky, Silky had already died and became a wandering lost spirit. Aira saw Silky as a wandering spirit at that time and didn't know Silky was a spirit and called her mommy thinking it was her real mother. No one could see the bloodied Silky in the crowd when Aira called out to her. When she saw Aira calling her mommy, it invoked certain memories to protect her 'child' which was Silky lingering regret in the human world and cannot die in peace. To be clear, Silky is not Aira's mother. Aira's mother had died and young Aira was probably looking for her absent mother which she didn't understand that had died and her father was telling her that her mother had gone to a faraway place.

Frog in japanese (蛙 - kaeru) sound exacly like 帰る(Kaeru) that means "To return, To come home...", is a metaphorical way the author uses to show that the daughter misses her mom, who has to work so hard as janitor, take the night shift in a convenience store and even prostitution. And there's more details in this episode that shows how brilliant the author is

And also they're going to reach a point through slowly eliminating the top ones and will end up watching everything. 5 years from now they're gonna be watching stuff like like soul eater or Inuyasha because they've watched everything else lol and I'm here for that. At that point they'll probably sprinkle other mainstream stuff in like star wars like they're doing rn.

I've never cried as hard as I have watching anime besides one piece, naruto, and AOT but holy shit the emotions were hitting the fuck outta me man lol. I've also finished what I think will be the first season in the manga, about 34-36 chapters, and its the first manga i've decided to read and it is not disappointing at all.

A few moments were already stand out ones to me showing some truly emotional and thematic depth to the story of DanDaDan. This episode just slapped everyone in the face with it. The amount of sadness and warmth I feel at the end of this ep. is just tremendous. I'm trying to keep from reading the manga now. Ugh.
