The soul of the elves are currently into the body of humans thanks to Licht's forbidden spell, but have not being fully reborn yet, Patry was the only one. So now that he has enough magic with the stones, the soul of the elves takes over the humans body. Yuno is one of them, you'll see more of known characters being reborn as elves, and some of them were teased already...

Only Patry successfully got reincarnated. Patry could only revive Raia, Fana and Vetto and needed the magic stones to revive the rest of them. You will find out soon whose bodies the elves souls get revived into. For your context, Julius is the 28th Wizard King which means that if Licht wife's brother is the 1st Wizard King then this happened quite a long time ago. The BC anime ended but not completed. The manga returned after a hiatus and is ongoing but chapters are updated slowly like 2-3 chapters every 2-3 months.

Earlier, when you saw Patry waking up in Vengeance's body after his death and realizing that Licht must have used a reincarnation spell, he looked out the window and saw all the souls of the deceased elves flying around (those were these glowing balls). But only Patry was successfully reincarnated because Vengeance happened to look quite similar to him. Because it seems that the external similarity and a similar wavelength plays a role in reincarnation, as we also saw with Fana or Raia. So the other souls were most likely not reincarnated because they hadn't found a suitable living body for them. Patry had only managed to reincarnate Fana, Vetto and Raia because he found suitable bodies for them and had enough magical power to use this forbidden reincarnation spell on them. But since Patry of course wants to reincarnate all the elves, he needs an excessive amount of mana, and he gets this through the magical stones. And now that he had all the stones together, he used the reincarnation spell again. And since it is now so enormously strong thanks to the stones, it ensures that all the remaining souls wandering around are attracted to their compatible bodies so that they can finally take over them. And that's exactly what happened with Yuno. So it has nothing to do with that the elves are ancestors of Yuno or others. The elves were completely eliminated back then, so no one can be related to the elves anymore.

I think it's because the people who were chosen were on a similar wavelength as the souls of the elves being reincarnated. What wavelength means here, I think it means people who look similar or have similar personalities (Fana looked the same as elf Fana, but the human who Vetto is in didnt look too much like the elf Vetto. They had similar personalities tho because both of them loved animals). I don't think grimoires had anything to do with it (when Patry was reborn, he had to get a new grimoire because he couldn't use William's three leaf one. The grimoire is tied to the person's soul so a different soul/reincarnated elf soul would not be able to use the grimoire of the host. Also Patry got a four leaf which is a totally different type or incompatible with a three lead I would say. There's much more to a grimoire though, its' size, number of pages, type of magic, etc.)

These BC episodes can't come fast enough. 😭 Oh yeah, the anime ended since it was catching up with the manga. The manga is not over yet; it's in its last arc from what I understand.
