2024-12-19 07:32:46 +0000 UTCI'll try to explain the swords as clearly as I can. Asta's first sword, the big ass one, is called the Demon Slayer sword. He still has it. It can negate magic, cut it, bounce it back, y'know what it does :p His second one was smaller and was capable of absorbing magic powers from others. He was able to borrow and release Noelle's water magic and Gauche's mirror magic before. This one's called the demon destroyer sword. He got it in a dungeon but lost it in fight against Licht. Licht has it right now (it turned white when he took it) The newest sword Asta has, Licht picked it up out of the ground and during the fight, Asta managed to grab it and it entered his grimoir and turned black (It was white in Licht's hands). We didn't get this one's name yet I think. This sword was able to dispell the effects of a spell, not just the spell itself. It's different from absorbing magic or negatic magic like before. The elf guy casted some magical poison on the father and other folks and by the time Asta got there, the poison had already done a lot of damage and circulated a lot in his body. If it was just Asta's big ass sword, he could destroy the spell which is the poison but the effect i.e the damage to their tissues would still remain. The new sword basically even breaks the cause and effect relationships of things that a magic spell causes. His previous swords could stop a magic spell but if that spell caused an effect on something, he couldn't negate the effect on that something. Similarly, suppose someone used fire magic to burn a tree or something. His previous swords could put out the fire coming from the magic spell but it couldn't put out the tree thats burning coz thats just a narural phenomenon. Even if it was started by magic, its continuing to burn just from natural physics/chemistry. But his new sword could put out the tree thats on fire too. Not only that, suppose a tree had been burnt to charcoal by a magical fire, it could possibly return the tree to its original form too. It might not be as crazy powerful as youre probably thinking coz I dont know whether it extends to on the effects of an effect or not. Like if a spell caused an effect and that effect caused another effect :p (If you think about it tho, the elf's actual magic was poison plant magic. The spell is the plant itself and the poison released by the plant is an effect of the plant. The tissue damage is an effect of the poison and that was healed so its already two levels down from the magic spell) This is why he can use this one to stop the reincarnation spell when his previous swords couldn't. (I don't know what the cause is and the effect is with the reincarnation spell though) Hope that helped.

2024-12-19 02:13:58 +0000 UTCRon you are correct, grimoires are only tools to enhance one’s magic. The spells inscribed allow the user to use more powerful magic. Someone can still use magic without their grimoires, just not powerful spells. Asta is the sole exception to this. At this point all we know is asta’s grimoire chose him and asta cannot use traditional magic, he can only use anti-magic via his swords stored in his grimoire
