2025-01-11 05:52:26 +0000 UTCI dont want to say too much because more will get explained latter and fairly soon but do you remember when you used to review notes during skypia and your mods informed you that devil fruits were weapons of imagination? My interpretation is that each user can kind of bend reality a little bit so long as they can conceive it to be in their respective fruits abilities. Gear 2 and 3 are different applications of what rubber could do. Ironically, i think wopol is a great example of people kind of cheesing their fruits. Munch munch fruit allows users to eat anything AND turn into anything the eat ( IE canons, houses) because we are what we eat.

I think you have seen that in how certain characters exploit even generally nonviolent abilities to devastating effect in the story so far. Luffy doesn't have to receive information on upgrading his ability. It comes straight from his imagination and willpower.

2024-12-26 01:05:12 +0000 UTCAlthough there will be enough times when shit gets serious, I would still try to embrace the random gags and goofiness of One Piece(otherwise some of the future arcs and fights may be tough to sit through), because it's something deeply rooted in it's storytelling. Oda basically created a gag battle shounen. And I personally prefer OP to other series since it doesn't take itself so seriously. Well, I trust that you'll eventually adjust some more the deeper you're in, even if you have other preferences due to the anime you've seen before.

Naruto deserves its credit too, the author really nailed a lot, and it’s a solid series. Respect where it’s due! But also, I didn’t wander into this comment section to start a “which anime is best” debate. Let’s just avoid that because I couldn’t care less hahaha 😝. I’ll admit I’m super biased since One Piece was my first anime, and before I even gave other shows a shot, I’d already decided it’s the greatest. Maybe if I’d started with Naruto or Bleach, they could’ve hit me the same way, but who knows? At this point, it’s impossible to say because One Piece will always have that first spot for me, and I’m good with that ✌🏼

When One piece gets serious it will be more serious than Naruto and Bleach, because seriousness comes from dark topics, good written characters, you believe in their motivation, you believe in f up things that happened even in our world. But Naruto and Bleach gets dark because of Emo characters that stared in the horizon most of the time with epic music full of pathos, that’s why on the other hand, maybe not One piece fans will not understand it, but Naruto and Bleach feels more childish to me, despite it’s style. And One piece despite it’s style far more serious work, with better balance, more professional character writing, development, with more serious creativity work

You should understand One piece doesn’t have pathos in it like Naruto. And still serious characters in Naruto makes dumb decisions that’s why Naruto is so weak for me, but in One piece dumb things will be only around dumb characters. And when Oda wents dark it will be really dark, not like Naruto. When character is serious it will be really serious, when topic is sentimental it will be really sentimental. So I was worried just like you what if in serious moments we will encounter not serious mood in the series, but do not worry, everything will be very good. When show wents dark, it will be not the pathos that makes it dark like in Naruto, but the writing, f up things that happened even in our world, really good written evil characters that doesn’t have match in any other shows etc. so just don’t worry, and be glad with every comedy that we are getting right now, when things will get serious One piece will not be so funny anymore sadly, we are right now not getting the same level of comedy, things are too serious right now and there is no really time for that. We never questioned how he thought of his other moves from the start. For example, how did he figure out to turn himself into a balloon to deflect cannons, or how did he come up with the Gum-Gum Rifle, where he twists his arm and launches an attack? It’s essentially the same process, Luffy just thinks of something, imagines how it would work in his head, and tries it. If it works, it works, and that’s all there is to it.

2024-12-25 09:28:47 +0000 UTCRon the best explanation I can give you about the gears without it being any spoilers is that you got to think what Luffy is made out of he's made out of rubber so with rubber with his imagination you could think of different things you could probably try to be able to do with rubber to change it like kind of the properties of it while still being rubber so Luffy decided to do certain things and he ended up naming those things different gears based on different you know style so you got to think like what are they made out of like how can they use certain things to their advantage etc etc

For instance, I loved both Bleach and Naruto, but I leaned slightly more toward Bleach because I personally enjoyed the story more. Both series kept me hyped during their intense fights, but my first exposure to anime was One Piece. That shaped my expectations for anime battles early on, and I think the first of the “Big 3” you watch often becomes your benchmark for the others. Looking back at all three, One Piece stands out as my undisputed favorite, not because it’s perfect (believe me, the pacing can be painfully slow), but because of its balance. Oda mixes humor into serious arcs, creating moments that are uniquely memorable. Even the characters I found annoying felt intentional, adding to the charm. When One Piece delivers those big emotional or action-packed moments, it delivers HARD. The humor helps bridge the gaps between the serious, high-stakes scenes, and when the payoff comes, it feels earned. The terrible pacing? Forgiven. The humor in inappropriate moments? Overlooked. That’s what makes One Piece so special to me. I think this approach is why I have a stronger connection to its story and characters than with Bleach or Naruto. Despite Toei’s trademark pacing issues (looking at you, Dragon Ball Z), I was lucky enough to binge most of One Piece. That way, the slow pacing never really got to me. All in all, the show’s charm, humor, and unforgettable moments make it a standout show for me! 🤙🏼 the best is still yet to come so enjoy the ride you guys !! 💃🏽

Some you may like better than others. As for the humor, you have to understand that it’s a huge charm to One Piece that i personally really love. It’s not like your typical battle shonen that takes itself very seriously all the time, this anime is a lot more “quirky” for the most part. So it seems a little far-fetched to compare some of the villains (especially CP9) to the Akatsuki considering the differences between the shows and what they value in character writing. Though that’s not to say that OP doesn’t get ever get serious. The great thing about this aspect of OP is that when it DOES get serious it hits different like no other, trust me.. it gets you LOCKED IN. Just know, there’s so much you have yet to see. 😉

Regarding the humor stuff, thats how One Piece is, but you will meet really strong characters that are really cold and serious too. This arc has maybe one of the best fights in One Piece and anime in general for me.
