Instead, in Suzaku's mind he is a honorary Brittanian soldier who works and fights for Brittania(to protect people) so going back to the base is where he feels he belongs.

Lelouch has been trying to convince Suzaku to join, but now he feels like “oh shit maybe Suzaku really doesn’t wanna join us”
