Unpopular opinion… but I think Hinata can beat Sakura in a hand 2 hand fight. Just a bad matchup for Sakura, Hinata been training in h2h since 3 years old. Only thing holding her back is her personality, but her skill and hax ability ( to shut down chakra, stopping her monster strength and having ranged attacks) should give her an edge. Media illiteracy, nostalgia goggles, refusal of demographic acknowledgment and understanding. There's literally nothing wrong with the writing. The show is just catered towards a younger demographic than that of Naruto. Kishimoto's intention was for it to be more "happy and fun" and you can feel that in the visuals and score. This is parallel to the manga which is more in-line with shonen demos. That's the real problem here. You have a bunch of older teens/young adults/adults complaining about watching a show that was written in mind for people to grow up with from ages 8-13. I never realized just how many people are blithering idiots.

Tsunade was kinda half forced to step up as Hokage when Jiraya refused. She lead Konoha through the bloodiest war in the history, I think she deserves her retirement. Also, it's to signal a new era post-war, with Kakashi taking charge of rebuilding and advancing Konoha. It's not specifically mentioned I think, but the theme of passing to the next generation has always been present. Tsunade lead Konoha through a crisis and passed it on to Kakashi. Also, Kakashi is at this point in his early 30's, Tsunade in her 50's. Remember, Tsunade is the same age group of Jiraya, the teacher of Kakashi's teacher Minato. Clarifying some things to you, guys: 1 – As you realized during the reaction, at this point, Naruto and Hinata are not married yet, they are just dating. Think of It as a moment in between the events of "The Last" and their actual wedding; 2 – The Infinite Tsukuyomi was cast all over the entire planet and reached every human being on It, and that includes normal civilians. It's a visual Jutsu that can affect all living creatures with basic cerebral activity, like animals for instance, just like we saw a cat being caught on It; 3 – The reason why Hiruzen Sarutobi stayed such a long time on his post as the Third Hokage was because, after Minato's death, there wasn't anyone in the village powerful/worthy enough to take on his place as Hokage. Jiraiya and Tsunade were the only ones capable of succeeding him but they were (for a long time) away from the village and they also didn't want It. The Third had no other choice but to remain on the post until someone qualified appeared. Hokages usually stay on the post while they still in their physical prime, at the peak of their abilities, otherwise they would be weakening the village and putting It in danger, an easier target for other villages to attack. Sarutobi was an exceptional case.

According to the official timeline, this arc is after the wedding, and the next one is before The Last. They didn't adapt the Sakura or Gaara light novels which take place just before and after the wedding novel (which closes out the show). I don't know why the anime staff/production committee chose to do it like this.
