One episode in and so far I’m not impressed. I’ll give it a few more episodes but I don’t see how this can compare to Naruto, Dbz or OP.

It’s called the big 3 not just because of being classics but because of there influences on other animes of the modern day. Animes like Attack on titan, demon slayer, Solo Leveling and JJK etc were all directly inspired by the big 3. That’s why you hear so many similar voices, similar character designs and similarities in personalities. For eg GOJO is a direct inspiration from Kakashi

Of the big 3, this spoke the most to me. Just the era, vibe, cool protag, and it just oozes style. Do pay attention to the art, the creator was very into clothing designs. A lot of the outros have the characters in alternate attire, lots of creativity.

I did actually like marineford, quite a bit. That was the last point I actually really enjoyed part of the series. I agree with you about Naruto's ending, I have trouble rewatching Naruto past the pain arc, it's just a drag to get through. Bleach has its own troubles with the HC arc pacing as well. Honestly all three anime had their issues, but Bleach was the most concise, maybe that's why I liked it more. If I were more into manga maybe my opinion would be different. Separately, I think talking about fillers as a negative in an old show you can binge is a pointless thing to bring up. Except in certain cases, like the Bount arc characters that show up in the start of the following arc. Massive miss by that studio. I'm fresh to all of these as an adult, I never watched a single episode when they were coming out, and all I heard in the lead up to getting to OP was that it was going to be the best of the three.

According to the author himself, the biggest influence he had creating bleach was saint seiya and yu yu Hakusho. OP draws heavily from DB, something that Oda is open about as well. It's not really. It's not even canon. It's far away from now, but it's irrelevant to the story. The characters introduced in that arc will have screen time of like 10 minutes in the beginning of the next arc over the course of 5 episodes or so if even that. After that they are just forgotten and never mentioned again.

Overall I don't really have many complaints about Naruto. Sasuke is aggravating, the Kaguya nonsense, that's the big pieces. There's only small bits where the pacing is bad, like Guy's squad fighting their copies at the start of shippuden. For Bleach it's the Bount arc slipping into the main story in the anime and the abysmal pacing of the HC arc. OP, the pacing feels like DBZ pacing at its worst, consistently throughout (at least to EP 700 where I am currently), and I really can't stress how much I hate how the crew has been treated since the time skip. They're caricatures of their former selves, Chopper getting the worst of it, but everyone else as well. Bleach manga is to me the most solid of the 3, until TYBW where the manga was a mess. Bleach has 366 episodes in total and without filler it's 200 episodes. After the 366 episodes the anime essentially got cancelled and never finished the story. In 2022, after 10 years, Bleach got a continuation that many fans hoped for in order to finish the last arc of the story called the Thousand Year Blood War (TYBW) and the animation studio has been absolutely cooking! Currently 3 out of 4 cours have aired with the studio confirming there will be 52 episodes total for all of TYBW and the final cour set to air around early 2026 most likely. Also Bleach came out almost exactly 2 years after Naruto started and is done by the same studio. They were airing simultaneously for a lot of their run.

Bleach is great, but in my memory the series had even bigger problems with fillers than Naruto, largely because the manga itself was very, very slow paced for the most part - it put way more focus on artistically crafted action panels/pages, so there really was not much space for story development per chapter

TYBW is just the next arc after the original animation stopped. It was always seamless in the manga, it was just that the actual anime got put on a very long hiatus so the time gap shows the insane quality of the animation so it feels like a whole sequel.

I love bleach so much, the manga is also more brutal than the anime and the other 2 in the big 3. The anime is sadly heavily cenosred and Tite Kube (the Author) wasnt involved in many things and they even changed some things from the manga. Kubo sadly also wasnt really a fan of the old anime because of that, The new TYBW arc anime which came back after 10 years is now fully under Kubos directing and is also getting new anime only content which wasnt in the manga. But even tho I think you will love it, Ichigo is one of my fav MC in fiction ever and the sidecast of bleach is just crazy good.
