2025-03-06 12:35:37 +0000 UTCQuick explanation for Michelle (hopefully you guys read this), it's stated by the black knights that regardless of how good Euphy's plan seems on the surface, this is still just a small piece of land instead of an entire country like Lelouch and the black knights wanted. On top of this, the sentiment towards the Japanese people would be the exact same outside of that small area. They would still be mistreated and subjugated if they stepped foot outside, which is pretty messed up. Imagine if the U.S. took over the entire country of Japan, subjugated its people, then one American leader gave back just Tokyo alone, but they still don't get any other part of Japan. It's not terrible, but definitely not at all fair to the Japanese people lol. Euphy may have had good intentions and a pure heart, but her plan would have screwed the Japanese people in the long run compared to if Lelouch's plan succeeds.

2025-03-05 18:14:50 +0000 UTCTo make things clear about Lelouch and Euphy. The reason Lelouch was hesitant to join Euphys' plan in the beginning was not because she would get the credit. The reason is that if Japan was liberated according to Euphy's plan, the Black Knights would no longer have a reason to keep fighting as Japan is liberated. And Lelouch needs their power to take down the emperor and the royal family. Liberating Japan is only 50% of Lelouch's goal, killing the emperor is his personal grudge and the Black Knights don't care about that as long as they are free. But Lelouch couldn't turn that offer down either, because it would look like he doesn't want Japan liberated

2025-03-05 11:09:51 +0000 UTCWell Lelouch is a pretty complex character. There's a reason he is one of, if not THE the most liked anime character, for example judging by MyAnimeList ranking. As much as I love shonen series, the main characters often are written to be role models to younger audience and are portrayed as always heroic and lawfully good which becomes bland after the fifth show for me. Lelouch is a revolutionary hero for Japan but a manipulative terrorist for Britannia.

Your comment about whether it was obvious he planted the Geass before hand, no I don't think it's that obvious. For me personally, I think I gathered it after numerous re watches. This is my favorite anime. It was also one of my first ones, and I attribute it to the one that got me into anime along with Naruto. I truly believe it is one of the greatest. I re watch this anime every year (with me watching it with you guys being this years re watch lol). I think you are supposed to piece it together with a couple key hints throughout the show. 1) They always, since episode 2, make sure to reiterate that his Geass ONLY works with direct eye contact. And 2) his fellow student who continued to mark the wall on one of the rooftops at the school. I agree with you both that Code Geass is one of the more information heavy animes. It's honestly why I recommend people who I personally recommend it to to watch the Dub as I think it's actually pretty good and to make it easier to gather and digest the info it throws at you. I actually strictly watch the Dub whenever I re watch, but that's just my preference and out look on it. Lady Marianne, Lelouch's mother, was a a knightmare pilot. She was a knight of honor. I believe this was said in the episode Lelouch kills Clovis. There is more info to share but I'll refrain as this comment is already long enough lol. Also, one thing I'd like to note is that throughout the show it's been shown that when someone gets Geassed it messes with their brain and impacts memory. Which is why everyone can't remember anything from the time they were under the Geass. Examples from this episode would be Cornelia not telling Suzaku Zero's identity or what was talked about. Lelouch didn't tell her not to talk about it, which he could have and it would have stuck had he commanded her while she was under his Geass, but because her memory got impacted and she CAN'T remember. As for Nina. Oh boy... I'm pretty sure everyone who watches this show hates her. And for good reasons. She is super racist and threatened to bomb the entire Tokyo settlement just to try and kill Zero. Which would have resulted in not only her death, but the deaths of ALL her friends and basically everyone she's ever known and cared about. Also, idk if this has been mentioned before, and idk if this will be better for you guys, but I believe C.C.'s name is said like C two. As in two C's. They kinda say it in the Japanese version, with it being Shi Tsu (I believe, I don't speak Japanese so someone correct me if I'm wrong) and in the dub they say it like C two (C2). Again, only if it makes saying her name easier for you guys, either way loving the reactions and I'm excited for you guys to see what season 2 has in store!! Also also, if you guys think the info I give in my comments is too much just lmk! I can get over excited when talking about this show but I can dial it back if need be!

Code Geass is known for having some of the best finales. Just like the last 5 eps of S1 peaked, the last 5 eps of S2 takes it to the top of a lot of peoples personal anime lists.

I watched it for the first time when my brother showed it to me when I was 10 years old, english being my third language so I had my brother explain some more difficult things. I've since rewatched it and there is so much that is not explicitly told but rather hinted at, so I've got even more out of it later. Also at an older age I've become interested in studying geopolitical tensions and war, so Code Geass is right up my alley. But it 100% is not an easy watch, as Code Geass does not shine in epic fights with motivating flashbacks, but rather in the psychology of the characters and exploring morality, how good and evil isn't exactly black and white, like Lelouch and Suzaku for example. Suzakuis fighting in a noble manner on the side of the oppressor, Lelouch spills unnecessary blood to cause a revolution and liberate Japan. Who is good and who is evil.
