Dr. Stone - Episode 16

Interstellar is a pretty bad representation of physics and time in space. Great movie tho. Since they are in space and are moving about 17,000 mph, the rest of the earth ages slightly faster, but the difference is extremely negligible. Everyone on Earth will be about 0.01 seconds older than people on the ISS in 6 months time. So if you spent your entire life, about 80 years, on the ISS, you still would only be 1.6 seconds younger.

2025-04-07 22:41:25 +0000 UTCThe true minimum number of humans needed to repopulate is debated. However the generally accepted number is 5 or 6. With 5 you would end up having some 3rd cousins getting together which shouldn't cause genetic defects but is morally gross. Having 6 would ensure there's no incest but there would be age gap issues and every couple would need to have as many babies as possible. But this isn't based purely on logic, these are meant to be normal people with normal morals so they're not gonna start breeding like rabbits. These astronauts couldn't repopulate Earth but they could definitely make a village with no issues

2025-04-06 17:50:13 +0000 UTCIt could def be a possibility, but the only reason time was slowed down on that planet in Interstellar was because it was close to the event horizon of a black hole. Time slows down the closer you get to black holes so considering the space station was only orbiting the earth scientifically it wouldn't make sense. But then again it is anime so who knows.

2025-04-06 09:33:28 +0000 UTCMichelle, it's clear that Senku's father and the other five astronauts haven't figured out how to un-petrify the petrified people. If they had, the people in the village (Kohaku, Chrome, and everyone else) would have to know how. This knowledge would have certainly been part of the Hundred Tales. And it's already been shown in previous episodes that the villagers have no idea that the stone statues are actually real people.

2025-04-06 05:37:31 +0000 UTCI’m no science expert but I don’t think time would change like that unless your hella far deep into space like I mean really really far lol if your just orbiting around earth I’m pretty sure it’s still the same time roughly

2025-04-06 05:34:52 +0000 UTCI’m just as caught up as you guys, but considering 1 hour on that one planet in Interstellar was equivalent to 7 years on earth, it would of only taken 22 days on that planet for 3700 years to pass on Earth. So yeah it’s definitely a possibility

2025-04-06 04:09:25 +0000 UTCFor starters since they are orbiting earth the time should still be relatively the same that concept only applies to deep space. Secondly as far as repopulation speaking it helps that they are from different parts of the world for genetic diversity the first two generations should be fine, but after yeah they gonna be cooked

2025-04-06 02:02:32 +0000 UTCJust to wrap your mind around it, Byakuya and the rest of the ISS crew were likely speaking in English, not Japanese. I'd say Ishigami Village is more a community rather than a civilization but that's just me arguing semantics.

2025-04-06 01:58:19 +0000 UTCRemember when you guys noticed the new ending a couple episodes ago with Senku and his dad at the park, it matched this scene this episode which was cool. It's also cool how in the dub you can hear everyone's accents in which country they are from. The couple is from Europe. That one guy is from Russia. Lilian (the singer) is American. I was surprised she was singing in English, I thought it'd be in Japanese. She's from America so it makes sense.

2025-04-06 00:39:39 +0000 UTCalso, it was the way you phrased it that had me rolling my eyes. saying “bunch of incest babies” instead of “inbreeding” gave off a certain impression, so i thought you were being a weirdo..🫤 no offense
envy
2025-04-06 00:26:26 +0000 UTCwell yes, they will be related but… ig it depends on what you consider to be incest. But no, the gene pool is definitely not large enough for there not to have been certain genetic issues.

2025-04-06 00:03:55 +0000 UTCtell me how 6 people can create 60 without ever having intercourse with a blood relative

2025-04-05 23:29:05 +0000 UTCthere has to be a bunch of incest babies right?
