Listen, I will always speak how i feel. Thats what you are signing up for. If you expect permanent glazing, im not the guy for that LOL And We all will never have the same opinions on things, thats part of reactions lol
I love shonen. I am basically only a shonen guy lol I even really enjoy black clover. But this movie just felt underwhelming, and the ending felt rushed and somewhat lazy. Sorry if that offends you. Thats just my experience watching this movie. Was still good, and hype moments, i just wish the ending satisfied me a bit more.
I get that so many other shows do something very similar. But maybe they just do it better? maybe its just written in a way that make it more believable so that I havnt felt this? Bc thats all I can think. With naruto, bleach, OP etc. Yes the main charcters level up and tap into something to beat the bad guys of course. But the build up, storytelling, everything has always felt "earned" and have all made sense to me. Im not sure why. And i just have enjoyed them and never questioned it. Maybe thats just how great storytelling is.
Anyways. wanted to share this with everyone bc these comments have been both funny and entertaining to read, and I wanted to address the ones assuming things, spreading false narratives around my enjoyment or passion or anything like that. Bc thats just pure madness to make up such accusations bc of me just being honest and being critical about the ending of an anime movie in which asta beats the final boss who just mopped him and his squad moments earlier, yet nothing really changed between fights lol

2025-05-18 02:46:16 +0000 UTCI agree with the takes. Most, if not all, shonen follow the same general formula when it comes to MC power-ups and overcoming adversary. If you've seen it enough, it may be easy to get tired of it. However, what distinguishes some series over the others even though they use the same tropes or formula, is execution--how they pull it off without making it seem cheap, lazy, or just convenient timing. That plus making up for the flaw(s) with overall better storytelling, buildup, setup, lore, payoff, etc. If the other elements of the story are that much better in comparison, it makes it easier to look past some of the shortcomings. I like Black Clover and did find the movie pretty hype when it came out but that's mainly because of the animation, some fight sequences, and it was after a long drought with no Black Clover content. When I stepped back and removed the bias to rate the movie objectively, I gave it around a 6-7 out of 10. It's not a bad movie but it was not great either. Ending wasn't compelling. Subjectively though, just going off the hype alone, it was maybe an 8.5.

2025-05-17 19:38:09 +0000 UTCHaven't watched the reaction yet. Just saw the recent post about the comments. To be completely honest, I didn't really care for this movie either. There was so much hype surrounding it at the time because so much time had passed since the last episode. The fights with the past wizard kings were cool. But I just remember feeling like the whole movie felt too fillery and unnecessary, that it didn't really add anything important to the main lore. I also remember it dragging on, characters focusing on minor details for too long. But I guess it's better than not having any black clover material while we wait for the anime to come back?
