In Western terms, the Tang Dynasty matches early medieval Europe (around the 7th–10th centuries), while the Ming Dynasty lines up with the Renaissance (1400s–1500s). So you can imagine an actual mirror is basically something so rare and new to them and it was given as a gift to the high-rank concubines of the emperor.

With this episode I really feel Maomao’s character more, she always says that she doesn’t want trouble or to get involved but she’s so nice that she can’t turn a blind eye, and her curiosity overweighs that it’s gotten to the point that she’s involved in national political issues which is cool. And the trust she has built for herself is such a power move, one of the best MCs😆
