Hunter x Hunter - Episode 124

Love seeing this character progression from Killua

In all honesty, HxH is sort of different, I understand your sentiments with the confusion and pacing, etc. I too couldn't understand everything in my first watch, and admittedly I didn't really enjoy the Morel/Knuckle/Shoot side of things too much. But rewatching your reactions to HxH, I can appreciate it more now.

He does not cry nearly enough, and also is way younger than Deku. He is allowed to be sad.

Anakin

Yea, not reading all that.

Goon

"always crying about something" Excuse me? Did you think he didn't have a right to cry here, when he was in despair that he couldn't do anything to help his best friend out of depression and insanity? Or at any other time he cried? In this entire HxH 2011 anime series, he has cried at most 6 times, over 148 episodes. I recommend checking this out for yourself, if you even care that you're wrong. Because "always" is just not true. If you were going to complain about something, this was the most ridiculous thing to point out. And it's quite rude to do this under Ron and Michelle's video on patreon. This isn't youtube. If you want to talk crap about the characters, do it there where you can join all the illogical arguments. You could have refrained from leaving such a pointless comment if all you were gonna do was say something untrue about one of the characters. (To Ron and Michelle, if you see this, please accept my apologies if you think this is unnecessary or too confrontational, but I just had to get it off my chest. I won't mind even if you delete this.)

Moon

comparing killua to deku...the disrespect. Tbh he doesn't cry nearly as much as deku, and when he does, it's valid. Gotta remember he was raised his whole life to basically keep his emotions bottled up and put on a brave face cause he was an assassin.

defnotdai

It's all good. That's why I put the TL/DR. I know I have a tendency to ramble with my comments 😅

Leona DiCarryo

I can agree to an extent as giving off the same vibes as Midoriya sometimes

Alyn

I was going to read this and saw the more button and clicked it then and it turned into a whole essay with its introduction and body paragraphs and conclusion holy btw please don’t take this offensive 🙏🏼

Shaide

Killua lowkey kinda annoying, dude us always crying about something; giving me Midoriya vibes. 🤨

Goon

I do the same thing XD I start a comment just wanting to address one thing and it turns into a multi paragraph response.

TL/DR: Love the scene between Killua and Palm, but would have loved to see Palm struggle with her lack of control more, before she regained her control. Something I really like about Killua helping Palm regain control of her emotions again, is the Killua knows exactly how she felt. Killua experienced the same thing, when he had his brothers needle in his head, which controlled when he should flee from a fight. The only thing I would have liked to see from this, would have been a bigger struggle from Palm. Throughout Killuas journey, we saw him struggle with his compulsion to run away from any fight that was too risky, even if it meant betraying Gon in some sense. But with Palm, we didn't get to see that. It was as if her problem was fixed, before it had a chance to become a real struggle for her. I would have loved for the writer to have given us some sort of scene, where her lack of control had some sort of consequence. Maybe a fight between her and Knov, her mentor, and a man she loves and respects. This fight could have served as character development for both Palm and Knov. Let me try to set the scene. Knov, too afraid to fight, has decided that the best way for him to help the mission, is by looking for Palm. He runs around the castle, looking for any signs of her, when he feels a terrifying presence, watching him. He instantly hides, as his mind is racing to find the best way to avoid any confrontations. He tries to run, but no matter where he runs to, the looming feeling of being watched, continues. But he can't seem to figure out where it is coming from. As he runs, he turns a corner, to find Palm. She had used her Clairvoyance to intercept him. The narrator describes Knov's thought process, as he puts the pieces together. He knows Palms ability to watch someone, so she must have been the one watching him. But he felt hostility behind the unwelcome surveillance, and Palm obviously looks different. She must have been turned. Just as Knov makes this realization, his thought are interrupted by Palm calling out his name. This makes him falter for a second, giving Palm the opening she needs to attack. She relentlessly attack, throwing punches and kicks, Giving Knov no time to counter, or gather his thoughts. As they fight, Knov tries to reason with Palm, and get through to her somehow. And as the fight goes on, we see hints of her reacting to these pleads, yet she continues to attack. We hear her inner dialogue, as she tries to fight back, against the brainwashing of Pitou, but she can't. This emotionally breaks her, as she is getting closer and closer to killing her mentor. Just before she kills him, Killua interferes, and in turn saves Knovs life. From here, the battle between Killua and Palm goes somewhat similarly to what we saw in this episode, with slight changes to make it fit. If we had this fight between these two, where she was forced to fight Knov against her will, because she couldn't control herself, this whole scene with Killua could have been even more impactful. And we could have gotten more character development from Knov as well. This comment ended up a lot longer than what I initially planned, but it was fun writing it :P

Leona DiCarryo

@Mr Krabs I like that. Good observation.

About time perception, meanwhile, Netero vs King is going to happen. The time when the they both arrived the designated location and started talking, Ikalgo was also fighting Welfin in the same time as Kill just fighting with Palm. And just before that, Gon and Knuckle just had finished a conversation with Pouf and Pouf's got away. It's kinda slow at the beginning of the palace invasion, but after those 3 minutes perception, they kinda show us every events of the mission simultaneously.

Hisoka Morrow

Yeah it will 🙂

To To

Overlord. I think they would enjoy that alot after all this Dark/Sad anime. Plus its finished where BC isnt yet

The CulturedGentleman

I agree 125-135 if they want to get the best experience from this arc. Taking breaks in between is gonna really dampen the effect of what this is set up to be.

The CulturedGentleman

I think this episode is one of the best examples of Killua's character growth. Talking to Palm, it shows the moment it dawned on him that They Are Losing Gon slowly as hes losing himself to rage and guilt. He finally breaks down into tears - something you would never expect from him when meeting him earlier on. His words "I cant do anything" is also him putting his feelings into words. He feels absolutely hopeless because he doesnt know how to say what he feels to Gon. He knows Palm saying Gons name will give him some assurance that it would uplift Gon's spirit a bit, but hes still doubtful that it will return him back to how he remembers him. If Palm doesnt approach Gon as a friend as he remembers her, he knows that would put the final nail in the coffin for his friend he desperately cares about.

The CulturedGentleman

Its three different types of loyalty. Pouf's loyalty is to the king's position. What the perfect king should be as you said. To that end he is willing to kill Komugi or just blatantly go against his wishes and give his life if he thinks it will benefit the king - Hes the vision. Pitou on the other hand is the opposite. She reveres Meruem and not his position. She will do absolutely anything for him IF HE wishes it. She represents his will. Lastly, Youpi is the warrior of the king. The Brawn. the muscle. All he does is whatever he thinks will benefit the king, and will try to morph/change himself to be whatever would be best to fulfill that role. He reveres him for who he is NOW and whatever he wants at present. SO Service to the throne, Service to the king himself personally and service to whatever the king wishes generally. I wanna say something else but to not spoil, ill save it for the end of this arc

The CulturedGentleman

its very ironic that pouf is a butterfly which often symbolizes transformation and change, but he is the royal guard most resistant to the king changing.

Mr Krabs

My God, only 24 episodes left !

ao kaze

Me too

Dajhaya Jones

Pitou and Youpi are fanatically loyal to the king. Pouf is fanatically loyal to his idea of what the king should be.

Manga furie

pouf wanna suck the king off so bad

Yes, the pacing of HxH in this Arc is somewhat hard to understand. Since the start of the Hunters attack on the Palace, 15minutes passed or smth, even though for us it was like ten+ episodes. And it's might be difficult, because back when Gon lost his Nen after losing to Knuckle, they skipped whole month in an episode. The Time Scale of the pacing goes from Ultra Slow to Ultra Fast, very often.

Taiga

I think people don’t realize this is your FIRST time watching the show, just enjoy the show guys 🫡

Daniel Gonzalez

Oh wait. That happened already.

Niraj Modhwadia

One thing to note about the time is that Pitou has an hour to heal Komugi. So that’s a good meter to tell how long it’s been if she’s still being healed then it hasn’t been an hour yet.

Mario Prime Plays

Damn i love this Episode. For Killua the whole time he was concealing his feelings for the mission and got hurt specially cus gon so far is pushing him away (hes handling all on his own (pitou)) since they reached the "Kings Castle". Killua still fights his insecurities about being not good enough (resulting in his child trauma => Illumi/his familie telling him hes not good enought to feel joy or happiness but instead needs to kill) as a friend, so he fears the outcome of the truth about their relationship. Next episodes are some bangers cant wait :P

Boosted Inferno

It's not the same day. It's the same hour. Remember, gon is the timer. He gave pitou 1 hour.

Niraj Modhwadia

Once hunter hunter ends I think Black Clover would be such a good watch for these two

Ameth

I like your take, the ideal "ant leader" needs to be a certain way and the king has to be the one to do that. I always just saw it as with us humans, we might want to get rid of a bad influence that someone in our family associate themselves with. Like if your kid was associating themselves with a drug dealer, usually you wouldn't let that happen.

Kee

For reference once gon lost his nen he couldn’t use it for a month. And kite got captured before that

Jahcasso

Idk if you were talking about my comment that mentioned you talking about Kite but I definitely didn't mean it as a roast. I was just trying to jog your memory about the scene and what you were thinking at the time. I had no idea what they were talking about with the cocoon when I watched that part either. Also remember that they still have Kite's body in Peijing.

Jake Turner

Hey Ron don't worry bro, we all got lost like mfs when we first watched this arc. I'ts impossible to predict everything right when so much things are happening at the same time. This arc is hella good but is confused as hell too lol

Max__

…I mean…Gon couldn’t use nen for a month lol

Vennom3

Everything is too fast it’s only been minutes that’s why togashi try to explain everything like that

OGNero

If ya'll played spiderman web of the shadows, this arc kinda reminds me of it. The whole symbiote thing. Palm was the last thing my mind needed to get what vibes I'm getting

Usher

Regarding the time passing in relation to episodes, of course some episodes will have less time pass during them than others because they serve different purposes, that's why I think it so important to go back and talk about what is happening in each episode rather than just moving on. The amount of time passing isn't a secret, its just another thing you have to keep track of. Just like how Ron noticed the narrator saying that "Initially this was just to buy time" was key to understanding what was actually happening with Killua, there are similar clues that hint at the time scale that things happen on. For example, we were told multiple times that Gon and Killua had a month to beat Knuckle and Shoot and it was also explained to us that Knuckles power APR takes 30 days to wear off. So we know that at least 2 months had passed even if we aren't constantly reminded of it.

ChocoBoshi

Oh le belge tu te calmes !

To To

Killua was holding in all those feelings ~ 😭 All he cares about is Gon. So glad Palm let Killua know that Gon needs him too despite how Gon reacted emotionally. If you count the day since they got attacked by Pitou and left Kite, it has been about 2 months. From the day Gon and Killua saw the manipulated Kite, it has been around 1 month.

Phyllis

I think you guys should watch one episode and I promise you, you'll want to watch more

Kwabs Maniac

Honestly, ik this doesn't have to do with hunter hunter, but I think you guys should watch black clover after, it's so good like you'll really love it

Kwabs Maniac

lets goo

bort

This Killua episode hit me a lot more because before I completely forgot that Killua was still a kid.. Seeing him throughout all the eps he always seemed pretty experienced, matured, and composed. He would also try to keep his emotions intact and go by logic about it. So seeing him finally release his emotions out rlly stung. He really loves Gon and is afraid of losing him ☹️

Itscurlyman

Ah thanks, i try

Broodhuys Thomas

The grammar in the comment is perfect, you're good lol

Usher

Yey ☺️☺️💜💜

rin okumura

True, but feels like unrealistic for them. Though Gek Studio reacted to all of them in the same go.

Susanom

Hello, how are you? Can you watch ep 125 and 126 together? Sorry for my English, i'm Belgian

Broodhuys Thomas

A month passed already when Gon had to wait for A.P.R. to go away, then they had to wait like a week before storming into battle as well, soooo yea sorry Ron, still love ya thooo🫢

Robbin

I'm wondering if 125 and 126 will be watched and uploaded together?

Talachuchi

i would actually recommend to binge 125-135,i am willing to bet that would be a transcending experience,126/131/135 are the peak of this show, then post the episodes as they please.

k; Guz

for Pouf, the King has to be "the King", if that makes sense. just like when the King asked his own name, Pouf answered the King is just a King and he doesn't really care about his name, unlike the answer of other Royal Guards.

mamimumemo

15:47 this part in manga is REALLY GOOD. like the art direction and everything. hope you'll read it someday!

mamimumemo

It lowkey hurt to see killua like that

Andrew Gutierrez

Cowboy bebop???

BTTR call MIKE

Pouf cares about the king in an idealistic sense,he wants to see him lead the species and be all powerful, anything that distorts that for him is a no no.In contrast Pitou cares about the king as an individual, his feeling and what he genuinely wants being more important to her(almost like his mother).Youpi is somewhere in between.

k; Guz

Please react tomorrow to two episodes and skip the Tuesday episode. Worth it!
