If you pay enough attention you will see that one of the biggest themes of one Piece is inherited will. This backstory i think is one of the best symbolism of that concept What I really liked are showing two sides of medicine with chopper basicly studying both sides with his masters. I think that is what makes him special as a doctor

I would agree Ron, at this point in the crew Luffy and Zoro are the main fighters with Luffy having a slight edge, Sanji is like you said a skilled support fighter but probably couldn’t whoop ass like Luffy and Zoro. Usopp and Nami are not really much fighters at all, Nami can do decent combat with her staff against goons and Usopp uses dirty tactics like shooting tabasco shots with his slingshot. But they have different roles on the crew other than fighting, Nami is the navigator and Usopp is in charge of maintaining the Going Merry. This makes the dynamic more interesting and realistic, as there are different tiers in combat ability and everyone brings something to the table and it’s not all fighting

This might be a little too meta, and ruin ur game. However, the eye catchers in the middle of the episode is usually one or two of the characters that is featured heavily in the episode you are watching. So in the first episode it makes sense for it to be Luffy, Nami or Sanji for instance.

Oda is ridiculously good at making you care about characters quickly. Hiriluk exists for like two episodes and I care for him more than even the main characters of some other series' I like. Episode 86 is so powerful. I think it's the first real glimpse at how good the writing can be in this story. One Piece is long and it will have some slow moments, like especially early on some annoying characters will get more screen time than they need, but when Oda wants you to feel something, it's like a whole different game. Some moments in this story, and especially when things start tying together massively later, are just unbelievable to me. There are plenty of cool fights down the track but it's these story moments that make me really fall in love with it THERE IS NO MEDICINE THAT CAN CURE FOOLS! The whole conversation at the end between Hiriluk, Dalton and Wapol about medicine and the country is so real as well. Very relevant to today's world, and it was written in the year 2000 💯

I always enjoy your reactions! This is why I love one piece. I have all the manga, I started buying when I was in my 20's because I wanted my kids to read them in the future. Now my 11 years old daughter is a big fan.  As both of you mentioned, the past story of Chopper indicates about mixed people in my opinion. In Japan and Korea, there are some people who have the same situation as Chopper, that really sucks.  The writer Oda, a great writer, always questions us about those matters through the story and characters. Hope people in the world will be like Luffy's crew, to be able to say that  they are cool. PS. Thanks to the internet, the number of people who have a kind of hostility toward different countries are way less  because of the internet. People can see more clearly what people in different worlds say about their own country. It's like Gabi and Falco from AOT finally found out that people in Paradi island are the same human, not evil.

Hiruluk coughing up blood is the first clue that the "master thief" in his Sakura story was him all along. It's confirmed when we find out during the scene between him and Kureha. When he said he was "cured" what he meant was his own personal "sickness of the heart(not literal)". It was the change in his attitude and outlook-- from despair and frustration, to hope and optimism, and desire to help others find the same.
