He is totally right about the circumstances though. Naruto at this point is no match for Pain in a 1v1 if he didn't have intel from Jiraiya and Pain was not completely exhausted from that Planetary Devastation. If it was a 1v1 and Nagato hadn't spent most of his chakra on a village wiping move he would have captured Naruto quickly. Also, if it was a deathmatch it would've been over in minutes, Pain had to make sure he didn't just outright kill Naruto as he needed the 9 tails.

Yes you’re right Pain was exhausted and severely handicapped in this fight. He just destroyed the entire village when Naruto pulled up, leaving Tendo pain out of the fight for a good portion. Naruto had help, prep time and full intel, got saved by Hinata and went nine tails state but still lost against Pain. So technically Naruto didn’t ‘win’ but as he said himself it isn’t about who wins or loses as that solves nothing.

meh i don't think that fight did that much to display sage-jutsu to the point you are convinced its super OP. he only fought Ningendō, Chikushōdō & Gakidō pain at the same time, (mind reading, summoning, & absorbtion pain) and they were defeated by Ma & Pa's frog song genjutsu, and they could attach to jiraya so he has recharging nature energy while moving. i think it's fair & reasonable to take note of how reduced & handicapped pain looks while fighting naruto instead of thinking naruto is the new undisputed champ of the world immediately. Nagato is literally wheezing & coughing blood everytime he's shown. Tendo pain was finally taken down by a regular rasengan while he was waiting for that 5 second buffer because he wasn't able to dodge shadow clones throwing naruto, he is still able to move while waiting for the recharge as we have seen so the fact he was hit by that means he was to exhausted to move out the way of something being thrown at him relatively slow moving

You guys missed an important detail at the end when Nagato shot the rod into Naruto. Look back at his eyes. Remember the nine tails would not let the toads merge with naruto to mix sage jutsu with his ninetail power. But if you look at naruto's eyes he is in sage mode while the nine tails chakra is leaking out. Remember he gets that cat like pupil when the nine tails chakra is being used. showing that he can use sage mode while also using the nine tails chakra which just made him ever more powerful essentially

Jiraiya can’t connect to the chakra of the dead. The sealing jutsu on Naruto's stomach and the sealing jutsu written on the frog are connected. I mean, if the sealing jutsu written on the frog can be erased, it can also be used to unseal the nine tails. Minato's chakra is in the sealing jutsu. Jiraiya knew that. Because Jiraiya read sealing jutsu. Jiraiya just added his own death and about Naruto to the sealing jutsu. Minato knew of Jiraiya's death the moment own chakra materialized.

This is not spoiler. Minato does not know that Kakashi is dead. Minato only knows the situation at the point when the nine tails have been released up to the eighth tail. It is only about the collapse of the village and Pain. He knew about Jiraiya's death because Jiraiya tampered with Naruto's sealing technique before Jiraiya was killed by Pain. Do you remember the frog that came out of Jiraiya's mouth like a scroll? Jiraiya used his craftsmanship to tell Minato about his death and that Naruto is the child who will change the future of the Shinobi. Minato communicated his intentions to Naruto on behalf of Jiraiya.

This is not a spoiler. Your question about Pains powers, and if he gets the powers of the body he controls. He does not. Pain has a set of powers, that he distribute among the six bodies he control. An example where we have seen this, is when Jiraya killed the body that did the summoning jutsu, the body stayed in the frog, which meant that Pain couldn't retrieve it. Since then, Pain has gotten a new body, but this new body still uses the same summoning jutsu, and summon the same creatures. This shows that the abilities that the different bodies use, are given to them by Pain, and are not powers of the original body. I hope this explanation makes sense

Ron is smart. Its pretty much accepted that Pain was gradually worn down throughout the arc by having to fight the whole village then using giant shinra tensei + chibaku tensei. Naruto otherwise even with the constant help from Katsuyu's intel still wouldn't have had a chance to defeat him in the end. so my understanding of the reason pain didn't go for the lethal blow right away with hinata was because he was TRYING to draw out the ninetails, because thats the only safe way he could transport naruto was if he was like on the brink of death with none of his own chakra or the ninetails chakra to draw from. so he pinned him down and was YAPPIN to draw in someone to sacrifice themselves for him, and when they did, he toyed with them until the ninetails emerged

Lots of yapping incoming: In this world, shinobi exist for the same reason armies do in the real world. They're the primary military force in this world. The hidden villages are basically military headquarters for ninja, and their relatives, with the "Kage" being the highest military position, who only serves under the feudal lord, who rules the land in which the "hidden village" is situated. "The Land of Fire" for example. This talk about "doing something about the hatred in the world" is all well and good, but as other characters have said, it's as best very idealistic, and at worst, extremely naïve. Obviously, "ending" human conflict isn't that simple. Even if shinobi culture dissipated, human conflict would still persist, because we don't all share the same values, and that inevitably causes conflict. It's easy to develop a cynical worldview when you consider these things, and I imagine that Nagato probably considers his plan a "necessary evil" because of this. PS Ron, the "speech" you're referring to is Pain's monologue after he pins down Naruto in episode 165. It sounds more like a speech in the dub, and the dub VA is incredible.

Regarding Hinata survival, I do think Pain let her live. She stepped in the fight knowing she didn’t stand a chance, yet she did it anyway. Not only that but regardless of the anger she must have felt, first thing she did was trying to free Naruto and not attack him. He saw how sincere and selfless she was. That so different from the cycle of hatred he was talking about. It must have reminded him of the feeling he felt for Konan and Yahiko when they were young. maybe that just my wishful thinking, but it makes sense to me
