Tokyo ghoul would be close in themes but with different vibes, code geass and steins gate are entirely different and unique shows that are always at the peak of the anime leaderboards, they’re just acclaimed classics

2024-05-03 19:23:45 +0000 UTCErased and Steins;Gate are similar to each other for sure; but those two and Code Geass have nothing in common with Parasyte. Tokyo Ghoul is definitely the closest to what Parasyte is in terms of narrative; but it's notorious for being bad after the first season. Ajin: Demi-Human (Netflix 2016) is also a similar concept to Parasyte. But it's a CG anime, so it definitely takes some getting used to the animation; a lot of people don't like the animation. But it has half as many episodes, so an easier commitment than Tokyo Ghoul. I see another guy here who wrote that Psycho-Pass is similar to Parasyte in terms of its questioning of human morality and ethics. I should preface by saying there is no narrative similarities between Psycho-Pass and Parasyte. But if the thing you like the most about Parasyte is the ethical dilemmas, then yeah, Psycho-Pass is the way to go

If you're looking for another thriller anime, I liked "Future Diary" and "Erased". I haven't watched Future Diary in a while so idk if it aged well

Pretty iconic show from the era too. I would vote for code geass regardless since I think its that good.
