Reanimation jutsu brought Itachi back and Kabuto had control of Itachi but Shisui's mangekyo jutsu broke Kabuto's control over Itachi and made his mind set to protect Konoha(which is what Itachi wants as well). So Kabuto can't break the reanimation jutsu either cause he has no control over Itachi now. For now Itachi is the one that has control over his renaimated body. I believe Shisui is dead. He faked his own death to make it look like Itachi killed him instead of suicide. He killed himself. I also think Itachi is more than qualified and smart enough to get his attacks to hit Nagato and Kabuto may have underestimated and thought that since Nagato's body is reanimated, 'physical attacks' won't work since he will just patch up again if he gets destroyed. He either overlooked or didn't know of this sealing attack jutsu that Itachi had. Orochimaru has been sealed by Itachi. You can't reanimate someone who has been sealed.

One is potentially the most gifted Uchiha of all time, one is a perfect jinchuriki who has been mentored by the Raikage since he was a kid, and one is a near-perfect jinchuriki who is also son of the 4th. Even if the fight stretched on the result was going to be the same.

Him controlling them is a separate part of the jutsu where they r all under a Genjutsu based on the seal the jutsu caster puts in them. Itachi over wrote Kabutos Genjutsu with his own more powerful Genjutsu making him a free willed reanimation. Yes Kabuto can get rid of Itachi but he would have to completely undo the the reanimation jutsu as a whole meaning he would lose all of his other reanimations just to get rid of itachi.

But he for all you have learned about the reanimation jutsu, is while not alive, very much back, and there appears to be no time limit As Kabuto has bragged about it being a perfect Jutsu over and over.

If the caster dies the reanimations stay alive. This is the reason they have to seal them as it’s the only thing that works. No matter what if kabuto doesn’t end the justu then Itachi will stay alive. Itachi has place a genjustu upon himself that overrides the control that kabuto has but it has no effect on the reanimation justu itself.

Time for some quick logic 1) we learend from the jiraiya fight that nagato has one significant weakness - genjutsu 2) how did pain originally circumvent his genjutsu weakness? with his separated paths which he doesn't have right now. 3) Who's the undisputed master of genjutsu as far as we know right now? Itachi 4) how does EVERY fight with itachi go? people thinking they have the upper hand and then get the tables turned I think essentially what we saw was a third person perspective on what the fight would look like from someone who wasn't under the genjutsu, which is itachi getting behind him and delivering the final blow. Also to michelle's point about itachi "he should be gone" Itachi took shisui's eye, put it in a crow and programmed the sharingan to cast a genjutsu on WHOEVER had itachi's eyes (remember itachi's whole plan was for sasuke to get his eyes). That genjutsu forces the user to protect the leaf village. So itachi is under three jutsu right now: 1) edo tensei - the reanimation jutsu. this is still in effect obviously 2) the mind control seal implanted in his head - this is still working, essentially treat this as a permanent connection to kabuto so he can receive orders 3) itachi's "save the leaf" genjutsu. Even though #2 is still in effect, itachi is no longer able to do anything that will hurt the leaf village, making him useless to any of kabuto's commands that he'd likely use The genjutsu doesn't undo edo tensei and it doesn't remove the seal from his brain, it just happened to give him autonomy. It was intended to be a fail safe to force sasuke to help the leaf village when he confronted naruto, because sasuke also has itachi's non-reanimated eyes. Itachi wasn't expecting to be reanimated so it was just a happy accident the way it worked out

That's the version Naruto would've fought If Nagato hadn't been crippled by the Gedo Statue when he invaded the Leaf Village in the Pain Arc, pretty terrifying, right?! Because his mobility was almost completely limited because of It, He was forced to divide his power into six corpse puppets to have a better control of It, which consequently nerfed his capabilities. If this version was the one that invaded Konoha, Naruto would've had no chance against him back then. Thank God that wasn't the case.

This is the eye that Danzo was casually manipulating everyone into following his plan. Basically he implanted Shisui's eye (which has the ability to control someone without them knowing flawlessly) into Naruto so that if Itachi's Mangekyo looked at Naruto, the crow would activate. He knew Sasuke would want his eyes to avoid blindness and to power up and planned to have the crow's genjutsu Protect the village on the person it was used on. However he did not anticipate coming back to life himself and the genjutsu rewrote Itachi because Kabuto tried to make him use Amaterasu on Naruto which activated the crow so that now he is forced to protect the village, essentially making him a free agent from Kabuto's control.

This episode is a great reminder that Orochimaru has been sealed by Itachi's sword. And as Kabuto told a few episodes ago, he can't use reanimation jutsu on sealed people, like the dead Hokage. To Michelle : Itachi has just destroyed Shisui's eye using Amaterasu. The "ten years" thing is just a way to tell "it won't be usefull anymore in this war nor against Sasuke, better detroy it now".
