I think the issue is them dropping a show that brought in so many people specifically for said show, based on a poll rather then their choice, even though every single episode of TG ron said “this is SUCH a good story” just seems like a rigging the wave thing rather then them wanting to continue the shower or not

As some others have expressed TG was a reason to subscribe , on that basis ALONE I feel it is only just to finish it, as a long time supporter that doesn’t even watch anything I just stay subscribed to support , if it’s gonna be like that, I’m gonna have to leave unless they pick it up later or something, they should have decided what was best for them not having the people decide, the people first decided to watch it with the baggage of all the seasons, and they both were interested the whole time, even with the poisoning of the well since the beginning, and it pointed to them enjoying and watching it all through, it should have been like any other show 🤷 but people had to whine and make it complicated and now they’re in this lose lose situation p.s I still love them and the community and everyone’s thoughts is appreciated, we HAVE to have compassion and look at everyone’s perspective in good faith I feel like only this way can we come to a consensus👍

Agreed, although I think the main frustration is about the show not being given a fair chance. Getting polled without them even watching a single episode of season 3 is kinda wild. If they honestly don’t enjoy reacting to it then I totally get it and wouldn’t have any issue with them dropping it.

It’s really unfair for the TG fans for you guys to do a patreon poll considering it’s the TG fanbase vs everyone else. A decision like this should come from whether or not you two enjoy the show, rather than from a doomed poll from the start. Even so, the fact that the vote to continue TG is over 30% is proof enough that it’s the winner considering how badly disadvantaged the TG vote was. Honestly only restarted my subscription for TG, and it’s really not that deep for me. If you guys ever continue TG again I’ll just resub lol.

To be fair, it's well known in the anime community (even by those of us who aren't fans or who haven't watched Tokyo Ghoul) that the third season is controversial. I have to assume Rice + Ginger were made aware early on that S3 might not get as much community support. I'm not saying that's a good (or bad) reason to potentially drop the show, but I'm sure this has weighed on their mind for weeks now.

As someone with no actual skin in the game (because I don't care for either choice), I can understand why folks who want TG S3 might feel like they're at an unfair disadvantage. People who don't want TG after S2 will vote for Akame ga Kill even if they don't want Akame ga Kill, and people who DO want Akame ga Kill will also vote for that. This poll probably should have had 3 or 4 choices. One option for continuing Tokyo Ghoul, one option for starting Akame ga Kill, and then 1 - 2 alternatives for people who don't care about either. From what I can tell, Tokyo Ghoul S3 was always going to be at a disadvantage. There are folks who want more TG, folks who only wanted TG S1 - S2, and folks who want Akame ga Kill. People who don't want Tokyo Ghoul S3 will vote for Akame ga Kill even if they don't want Akame ga Kill. I don't think it's ideal to watch multiple anime at the same time like you’re doing now. Watching 10 different shows simultaneously makes it hard to fully focus on any one of them, which can reduce your enjoyment and also diminish the experience for your viewers. I recommend focusing on completing one anime at a time, as you did with Attack on Titan in the past, and then moving on to another unique series.

Why not just finish TG then go to another anime? The vote is automatically rigged against TG because the haters + those that weren't watching it to begin with and like Akame will forsure vote for a new anime. A fair vote would be amongst those who were watching it to begin with, 1200 people voting on this is way more than the people watching TG (I assume based on the around 100 likes per TG video). Finishing a show should take precedence unless you two specifically don't like it.

solid take, but from what you just said those people were already disappointed with the previous seasons so it was logical to drop the show having formulated their opinion based on their opinion on the previous seasons AND the negative buzz surrounding the 8th season. I don't think this same case applies, since they both seemed to have enjoyed season 1 and 2 of TG. I would understand watching the first few episodes and formulating the same opinion that we all have which is 'they fucking ruined TG' (which they did) and then polling to drop the show. I agree though game of thrones was probably a bad example but it was one of the few full of controversial opinions I had in mind.

You can say that to many shows tho, and it’s not like they are reacting to one show only. They have a week’s worth of a few shows being reacted. I can understand if this was the only show they are reacting to. But it’s not, I don’t understand why people have to put down a show because they didn’t like it. There are a lot of people who did enjoy it and loved watching their reactions to it. Just because you didn’t enjoy it, that’s cool for you. They do not do this for every show, they specically did it for this show cause they know there's a huge amount of controversy among all their members. If (currently) 62% of their entire fanbase would rather move on cause they feel the show isn't worth continuing, would it really be a smart move for them to continue reacting to it? I get how some people say they should make up their own mind, but obviously they're weighing the balance between what they like themselves and their community. While personally I didn't like season 3 and beyond imo they should have watched episode one, recorded it, and if they absolutely loved it then consider whether or not they continue/upload it even if it goes against a large portion of their fanbase, the only reason I imagine they aren't doing this is cause they have been warned in the past already how the first couple of episodes are super confusing, and people would insist to keep watching until it starts making sense.

I watched all the seasons of the Anime without knowing it was based on a manga with a different plot trajectory. I mainly loved the anime for the aesthetics of the characters and the brilliant soundtrack tbh. It will be impossible for you guys to understand these coming seasons, they have adapted 12 chapters per episode, usually they adapt 3/4, with this high pace they have cut too much information, when you watch it you just don’t know what is happening
