Right before Tanjirou's blade went all the way through his neck, Gyutaro said he would have to release his "Rotating Circular Slash". That's what was released after his head was cut off. I think Tengan could hear it before it was released since he's the "sound Hashira".

Kinoto Kinoe (thanks for the correction Hassan) Also in epsiode 15 of this season (Gathering) when they all started the fight against Gyuntaro and Daki, Uzui referred to Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke as very talented "Tsugoku". A Tsuguko is a Demon Slayer that has been reconized as having the talent and potential to be designated as the successor to one of the Hashira, should that Hashira retire or die. Now I'm not saying that Tanjiro, Zenitsu, or Inosuke will be moved up the ranks to Hashira. But it is worth nothing that these 4 (with Uzui included) are the first in 100yrs to successfully kill an Upper Ranked Demon.
