Apothecary Diaries - S2 Episode 7

Comments

Yup. The most recent proof of this was during the Envoys dance performance where one of them commented that "It is a shame your brother could not come, I would have liked to see him." - not knowing that Jinshi was in-fact going to later dance for them as their "Moon Fairy"

This is accurate, though I will say that your bullet about "If the Empress Dowager is Jinshi's birth mother" saying "He would be next in line to the throne since the Emperor currently has no heir" is a contradictory statement. Though I do understand your intent behind the message. Those who are confused, though, see below: In this example Jinshi *is* the heir, as the brother, because the Emperor has no male children. However, due to succession law, if the Emperor were to have a male child (for example, the son that Concubine Lihua had that passed away from the face-powder incident in S1) then they would become the heir immediately, regardless of age; because, succession law states that the son(s) of the Emperor inherit first... followed (in many patriarchal succession laws but not all) by the eldest male blood relative (Jinshi, in this speculated example).

I feel I should clarify, Ah-Duo definitely wasn't the only concubine. She was, however, the only one *with child* and getting any personal attention by the emperor which is what matters for this discussion.

Oh how the plot thickens

AlecSinWonderland

we still don't know why Jinshi is hiding his royal status and role playing as a eunuch. With the emperor not having a son Jinshi is next in line for the throne. if one of the concubines gives birth to a son that would mean that the baby would be the heir to the throne. Also I get the feeling that you guys totally forgot about Ah-Duo. What we know: - Ah-Duo and the Empress Dowager gave birth at the same time, however at the time of the birth the empress dowager had a higher priority than Ah-Duo which resulted in her losing her uterus -Ah-Duo was the current emperor's only concubine at the time - Maomao theorized that the babies were swapped -the child with Ah-Duo later died due to the head lady-in-waiting feeding him honey

In Season 2 the plot is thicken lol … I think our brain doing a cartwheel regarding Jinish identity since season 1 🤭

I’m not denying or dismissing any of the theories you’ve brought up. But just as a quick recap and reminder, here’s what the story has been hinting at so far regarding Jinshi: - Jinshi’s royal status is being kept a secret(why, exactly, is still unclear) - Jinshi grew up believing he was the son of the current Emperor. - However, he was later taught that he is actually the brother of the current Emperor. His mother is the current Empress Dowager, his father is the previous Emperor (the older man seen in Jinshi’s dream/memory flashback), and his grandmother is the elderly woman(also seen in that flashback). - Only a very small number of people seem to know Jinshi’s true identity. (We don’t know who exactly knows, but if you’ve been paying close attention, you might’ve picked up on a few clues. Still, I won’t spoil the fun so keep theorising~) - In Season 1, it was suggested that either Concubine Ah Duo or the Empress Dowager is Jinshi’s biological mother, possibly due to a baby swap that may have taken place. - If Concubine Ah Duo is his birth mother, that would make Jinshi the son of the current Emperor and thus, the Emperor’s rightful heir. - However, records state that Concubine Ah Duo’s only child, the Emperor’s son, died from accidental poisoning when her head lady-in-waiting fed him honey. - Concubine Ah Duo left the Rear Palace. She was unable to bear more children, having lost her uterus during childbirth. - If the Empress Dowager is Jinshi’s birth mother, then he truly is the younger brother of the current Emperor. He would still be next in line to the throne, since the Emperor currently has no heir. Take note that the idea of a baby swap between Concubine Ah Duo and the Empress Dowager is just MaoMao’s speculation, based on the information she’s gathered. She hasn’t confirmed it. Also, MaoMao is deliberately avoiding digging too deeply into Jinshi’s identity, knowing that uncovering such truths could put her in serious danger.

The current emporer having a brother isn't a secret, but "Jinshi" really being his brother is

Ya'll are completely throwing Concubine Ah-Duo out the window. You forgot for sure lol. ☝🏾☝🏾☝🏾Reminders from season 1, episode 11 & 12: 👉🏾👉🏾👉🏾The Simple Facts👈🏾 ✨Ah-Duo and the Empress Dowager gave birth to a child at the same time. ✨Ah-Duo was the only concubine of the prince who is the current emperor and that's who she was impregnated by. ✨The Empress Dowager was impregnated by the previous emperor. ✨Sometime after the babies were born, Ah-Duo's baby died. 👉🏾👉🏾👉🏾What Maomao Found Out with Proof👈🏾 ✨Ah-Duo's labor was hard, and she lost her uterus because the Empress Dowager got priority. ✨The baby that died was killed by Ah Duo's head lady-in-waiting because she fed the baby honey. 👉🏾👉🏾👉🏾Maomao's Conjecture and Theory Based on Facts👈🏾 ✨The two babies were switched! ✨When Ah-Duo's baby died, the switch was discovered, which likely led to her adopted father, Luomen, being punished and banished from the rear palace. ✨If the babies were switched, that means that Ah-Duo's baby that died from honey poisoning was actually the current emperor's brother who was birthed by the Empress Dowager and the previous emperor. ✨This would also mean that the true child of Ah-Duo and the current emperor was raised as the emperor's younger brother by the Empress Dowager.
