He’s a prodigy, and even Kakashi said he was already at Chūnin level while still in the academy. He’s exceptionally smart and consistently scored perfect marks. His problem wasn’t pressure; (well maybe that too) but he already knew he was good and skilled. But despite all his achievements, Naruto still didn’t seem to recognize him enough. That’s what pushed Boruto to seek something instant—something that would make him even better—because apparently, what he had already accomplished wasn’t enough to earn his father’s recognition. Boruto didn’t believe in slow, steady progress—he wanted to fast-forward it. That’s why he turned to the scientific ninja tool: instant power, instant results. He wanted recognition, and he wanted it right now. This was similar to what happened to Sasuke after he first encountered Itachi. He felt powerless, convinced that his progress was too slow—even though, in reality, he was already the strongest ninja of his age. (Of course, it didn’t help that he kept comparing himself to Naruto.) Sasuke, instead of turning to a scientific tool like Boruto, sought out Orochimaru to gain even greater power—instant power—in the form of the Curse Mark. That’s why Sasuke is the perfect teacher for Boruto—he understands him, because he’s been in that same place: desperate to gain instant power. He knew exactly what it felt like, which is why he didn’t scold Boruto right away for using the scientific ninja tool. Sasuke understood that some lessons can’t be taught with words; Boruto would have to learn this one the hard way.
