The La clan is a prestigious family with a long and distinguished history, and since Lakan only has a daughter, MaoMao, they need an heir hence Lahan's role. Now, onto the more complicated part of the story in this episode: - Taihou was the lady-in-waiting to a concubine. - Taihou slept with the late emperor and became pregnant with a daughter. - That daughter was claimed by the Palace to be the child of a palace doctor, not the late emperor. As a result, the doctor with the baby girl was expelled from the rear palace. - This child (Taihou’s daughter) was born before the current emperor, so both she and the emperor would now be around 30–40 years old. - Taihou remained in the palace until her death and could never leave. - She was also the woman who hosted the ghost story gatherings and who recently passed away. - The concubine whom Taihou served was later given to Shishou. - That same concubine later gave birth to a daughter. That daughter is Concubine Loulan. - Suirei was seen at Taihou’s grave. She had disguised herself and infiltrated the palace under the identity of the eunuch "Tian." - Shenlu, the woman from the clinic, was also a victim of the late emperor, one of the many he deflowered. - Shenlu may have been close to Taihou, as they shared a similar fate under the late emperor. - Shenlu recognized Jinshi's resemblance to the late emperor and directly confronted him, asking why a crown prince would be pretending to be a eunuch. - Jinshi’s internal thoughts confirm that he is the current emperor’s brother. He asked to live as a eunuch in order to hide his true identity and status. - However, it remains unconfirmed whether Jinshi is the son or the younger brother of the current emperor. Jinshi himself believes the emperor is his brother, as he is the son of the Empress Dowager, the only one to survive after the current emperor's son(with Lady Ah Duo) died from the honey poisoning incident. That's about all I can recall for now.

2025-09-17 04:31:47 +0000 UTCIt's interesting that Ron mentioned "the cunning way he speaks" about Lahan is similar to Lakan, because Lahan's VA have said on podcast that he traced/mimicking how Lakan's VA talks in this show. Which means he succeeded acting as Lahan, even though you guys don't speak Japanese 🤣

I will try to break it down with info already given: ✨Taihou, when she was a young girl (she had to be 13~15yo), was deflowered by the previous emperor. ✨Taihou became pregnant and birthed a daughter. ✨The previous emperor and his mother denied that the baby was his and said Taihou had an affair with a doctor. ✨The doctor and the baby daughter were made to leave the palace. ✨Taihou was not allowed to leave the palace. ✨Taihou was the lady-in-waiting to one of the previous emperor's concubines. ✨That concubine was given to Shisou. ✨Shisou and the given concubine had a daughter, Loulan. ✨Taihou died the previous year in her later years (50~70 yo?). She used to gather the other court ladies to tell stories. ✨Loulan became a concubine to the current emperor. ✨Suirei became a court lady working with medicine. ✨Suirei concocted a bunch of plans, but escaped by "killing" herself with the resurrection medicine. ✨Suirei later came back to the rear palace as a eunuch named Tian. ✨Shisui, the working servant girl, would meet with Tian/Suirei to exchange info at the bathes. ✨Maomao did not know Shisui and Suirei knew each other until she threw the snake in Suirei's path to confirm her suspicions.
