I'm totally late on this reaction but I hope you guys noticed that at 22:44 Ulquiorra already knew that Grimmjow was going to appear right behind him. His observation haki (lol) is greater than Grimmjow's so he was well aware that he was gonna pull something like this. In other words, he let himself get caught. I won't elaborate more on the matter until we see more of him but I'll remind you guys later as to WHY Ulquiorra didn't want to fight Grimmjow there and then.

She's already strong, it's a lot easier to retaliate than heal or forgive (Also she just brought back two people from death in those episodes! Menoly, the arrancar Grimmjow blasted and Ichigo)

2025-09-18 20:56:38 +0000 UTC[Tidbits 165] - Where Ichigo falls on the line of Human and Monster is a core concept of this arc. Ichigo is a protector and we know that, but people are multifaceted. White Ichigo spoke of Instinct and how it separates the horse from the King. Ichigo is now and throughout this arc attempting to ignore part of his instincts; he even separates and villainizes it. To protect requires one to battle. When you choose to protect, you choose to fight; those ideals are tangled, and even beyond that, part of Ichigo wants to fight. In this moment, Ichigo wants to prove himself against Grimmjow, even if he won't admit it to himself. - Grimmjow is stronger, but at the same time not. Many forget some key facts that play into Ichigo's progression within this arc 1: In Ichigo's 1st encounter with Ulquiorra and Yammy we learned that Ichigo's spiritual power fluctuates (Due to internal struggles). Ulquiorra noted that when Ichigo's spiritual power was high, it was even higher than his, and Ulquiorra is #4 while Grimmjow is #6. 2: We learned from Urahara (early in the story) that the quickest way to increase spiritual power is to face life or death situations, and Ichigo, from the start of this arc has not only faced tons of bad situations he also finds himself on the brink of death a few times. : (Basically, Ichigo already had the potential power to defeat Grimmjow; not only has his potential grown this arc, but his experience and understanding have grown. The closer Ichigo gets to a point of stability, the more of his power he'll be able to tap into and use (thus the question is does he survive long enough to get to that point) - Take note of Grimmjow's behavior. He seems to be fixated on Ichigo. The way it's approached is intentional and will make sense once you learn more about the Espada and their positions.

2025-09-18 18:32:51 +0000 UTC[Tidbits 164] - This episode has HEAVY censorship, in the manga, Szayelapporo doesn't recover by turning his minions into energy, he just starts eating them whole. - The scene where Orihime talks about being unable to heal Ichigo is both a reality and symbolic. Ichigo was punctured in his heart by Hollow Reiatsu, which is harder to recover from, but on the metaphorical side, Ichigo has taken a wound to the heart in the mental sense, and no amount of first aid can heal that.
