2025-11-26 15:12:48 +0000 UTCThere is multiple way to interpret a composition. In a competition, you have to stick the style of your era, but in that style there is an infinite possibility to interpret a classical music. The authenticity from the 18th century is not the same as that of the 19th century etc. PS : I'm french, sorry for mistakes.

2025-11-26 07:36:30 +0000 UTCMost classical competitions revolve around you doing pieces from the greats such as Chopin, Mozart, or Beethoven. The main factor in judging in the competitions is how well the performer can No.1 play the piece technically, and No. 2 interpret the piece. It's why the show points out that some of the performers playing differently from the rest, because artistically they are playing the piece differently from the others. Also, some competitions will allow for different pieces to be played while others have a set piece.
