2025-12-02 18:22:36 +0000 UTCThey don't use the word brother loosely. You have 2 things. 1st, when calling brother for affinity(and not real blood brother), only the person calls him directly that. Like Arlong calling Tiger Brother. But you don't get a 3rd person talking to Arlong and saying "Your brother". At most you hear they say "he is like a brother to you" or "They are like brothers". 2nd, In japanese in fact the words for affinity and blood relative are different. "Aniki" is brother of affinity, and Onisas or Ani(informal), is brother from blood. Sharley is in fact Arlong Sister!

I appreciate what Oda did, and the story, and how it ties into the rest of the lore, but man i can't wait till we get to stuff coming xD. OP still my favorite anime tho!
