Bakugo has a massive inferiority complex, hidden under his arrogance and relentless drive. But with Deku he came to terms with it and realized he doesn't have to have destiny given to him. He can be secure in forging his own future through himself, just like Deku did with his inherited quirk. He had a great partner that made him better too.

2025-12-01 02:04:30 +0000 UTCBakugo’s breakdown just kills me. “What the hell did I do to you!?” He’s come so far in his personal growth as a character, and Izuku was such a big catalyst for that. For Bakugo to feel like he finally had a best friend/rival he could truly compete with, that him and deku had reached a new level in their interpersonal relationship, and now deku won’t be able to live up to Bakugo’s new dreams of what he wanted their future to look like. He’s grieving all the mistakes he made in the past of his treatment of deku - AND also the future of being heroes together with deku. He’s devastated, thinking like, “I can’t believe I wasted so much time being such a jerk to this guy who fundamentally changed me as a person. I had new dreams of us being top heroes together, and now that’s just never gonna happen”. It’s just such a great, but sad moment of his growth as a character
