2025-12-15 14:47:35 +0000 UTCI really love how Horikoshi-sensei described the final chapter of My Hero Academia as “putting the camera down and freeing the characters from the drama.” The story called My Hero Academia ends here, but it feels like the characters themselves keep living and moving on within that world. Maybe that’s why it doesn’t really feel like it’s over.

I've said this in a few other places, But I think there's a huge trend of mangaka seeming to get really burnt out and wanting to wrap up their stories and it definitely is noticible in the stories. MHA, JJK, And demon slayer all are fantastic stories (no spoilers at all in this comment) but feel like they ended 5 years too early. Idk if the issue is the industry or just a issue relating to the times, but it just really seems like they're getting burnt out and try to wrap it up. MHA was a great show, but damn I have to be honest and say I really think it deserved to have a few more seasons. I think if horikoshi just handled "time" differently, it would've helped a lot. I think time should have been progressing throughot the story and this last arc should've taken place with them as 3rd years. And I also really don't like the "we were all the greatest hero" angle he started to shift to. The first chapter deku says "this is the story of how I became the greatest hero" and there were a lot of expectations built behind that quote and the things that came after, and he started to shift away from that. It's a bummer deku is quirkless again. I think it would've been cooler if maybe he just lost the predecessors quirk factors and OFAs power stockpile reset to 0, but he still KEPT the quirk, that way he could start a new legacy and pass it on when he was done, and still have a quirk. Overall, love the story. Everything I say is just critiques because I truly thought it had potential to be in like, top 3 greatest shine some day. Still very much enjoyed the ride 🙏🏼
