Just gotta push back a little bit about violent talk was only a mainstay of elite academia. I atttended a small evangelical (Calvinist) Bible College, ca. 1998-2001, coming from a Wesleyan Holiness tradition. I was threatened with the fires of Hell (by fellow students, not professors)—something a little more violent than just bodily maiming—for not just believing in, but championing, full ordination of women. (Mom just retired from 25+ years in the pastorate.) And, in some circles, it hasn’t stopped in the 30 years since. So, no. It’s not just the political left that uses violent rhetoric. The evangelical right actually takes it much farther in my personal experience. (Matthew 10:28)

Apart from everything else, even showing two men kissing or suggesting a gay relationship was banned not too long ago. Thank God the Hays Code is over.

When I see any episode drop that features David French I know I will be mentally enlightened. This episode is no exception. I admit my thoughts are simple. That said, when any ‘side’ attempts to quiet the opposing side I see it as applying a proverbial bandaid. It may quite what they don’t want to hear for a moment but it does not address the heart of the issue. David said it perfectly in that we are all precious because of being made in the image of God while being sinful. We are attempting to quiet what is upsetting rather than praying for a heart that is pursuing what is good, true, and beautiful according to the Creator God. Beginning with our own heart and then moving from that point with others in walking in the love of the one who is the creator of right and true.
