Also its understandable seeing their reactions to seeing a black man for the first time. There are similar accounts of Native Americans reacting the same way when they saw a black man brought by European settlers. The character of Yasuke is actually based on a real life samurai of the same name. He was a slave of a Portuguese missionary that visited Japan. Nobunaga was fascinated by this man and his strength and made him the 1st foreigner samurai in Japan's history.
