If I was aware that I could kick the bucket at anytime, I wouldn't want to be close to people that I care about. And why would I spill the beans about who I am to them? So I can die shortly after, leaving them alone again? Or worse, risk them dying alongside me? Which is literally what just happened.. I get the sense that he'd have a better shot at a longer life if he could just let go of his past and focus on living in the present. Especially considering that all his new lives are interconnected.
