I hope you're enjoying the currently ongoing playthroughs! I'm already excited for some of the games coming up later: Outer Wilds (again), Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin, Pokemon Sword probably, and... well, I was gonna say Nier, but now there's that remake coming sometime in the future? So I guess I need to decide whether or not we wait for that... Why is it always Square Enix games?

IMO you've already played a couple of spiky-haired boys, so playing Papa Nier would be a nice change of pace.

2020-05-31 17:16:39 +0000 UTCI'm sure others have pointed this out, but the NieR remake will remaster the Japanese version and focus on a brother-sibling relationship over the Western version that had a father-daughter relationship. There aren't any story impacts, but it might have an affect on how you the player feels about the relationship. (There's also one bit of animation and dialogue that was obviously written for the younger protagonist that just ends up looking a little ridiculous on Papa Nier, but I digress.) It was way easier for me to buy into the parental one over the sibling one, though that may have honestly been a point that the Japanese version was trying to make about the intensity of the sibling's relationship. Although for what it's worth, both are considered "canon" to the sequel.
