POLL: Which version of Nier to play?

Alright, y'all, we gotta make a decision together.

I was planning to play both Nier and Nier Automata on the channel this year, but Square-Enix has thrown a wrench into our plans (AGAIN) by announcing a remaster of the original game called Nier Replicant, slated to release Who Knows When, Maybe This Year. So we now get to decide whether we want to play the original game sooner or the remaster SOMEDAY.

And it's a tough call!

1. The US version of the Original Nier, released for the Xbox360, featured a middle-aged protagonist trying to help his sick daughter, while the Replicant remake will feature the Japanese version's protagonist, a young man trying to help his sick sister (the versions of the game are otherwise basically identical; welcome to the wacky experience that is Nier, everyone)

2. The original version of the game has pretty mediocre combat, which the remaster is apparently meant to improve, bringing it more in line with the combat system in Nier Automata. Granted, it's a Story Mode playthrough, so repetitive bland combat is more a problem for me than you, but still. :P

3. The Replicant remaster MIGHT change some things? We have no idea. The creator of Nier stands alongside Nomura and Kojima in the golden halls of Unpredictable Auteurs of Japan's AAA Gamedev Scene, so who the heck knows what will or won't change.

4. Again, we have no idea when Replicant will arrive or how long we'll be waiting for it.

So what would you prefer? Would you like to see a Story Mode playthrough of the original version of the game in the near future, or would you rather wait til later to see the remastered version that is Nier Replicant instead? I am good either way!

MAKE YOUR CHOICE.

It's tough to say but I went with the remaster just because it's gonna be the optimal way to experience the game, even though your only getting the experience a few people got (Replicant) as opposed to what most people got (Gestault).

I'll second this!

I say play Automata first, then make the decision. We should find out more about the remake before making this choice.
