*edited to add TW/CW for racist violence: Human propensity for violence is definitely a thing in general (across different cultures, continents, etc.). But it is something that is a part of white people's history, whether in Europe, Africa or the Americas (and probably other places). Lynchings during Jim Crow were treated as family gatherings, and often white people would send postcards of the lynchings along with "souvenirs" (body parts) in the mail to their family and friends.
