The Apothecary Diaries 2x14

I like how everytime Gyokuyo and Jinshi meet about our girl, MaoMao, they do that polite arguing and try to hold onto her, due to her being a trusted advisor and someone Gyokuyo can count on and being a great Apothecary to them both(plus she's hella smart). They end up stressing their right hands out and leaving MaoMao clueless. But as for the romance, I'm not too focused on it and I love a good romance anime/manga or a potential couple if I notice it right away and they click with me. But not with this show though. I'm mainly focused on everything else more than the romance. Although, alot of viewers/fans of the anime are pressuring the author to focus more on Jinshi and MaoMao having a romantic relationship when the Apothecary Diaries was never meant to be a Full romance from.what the author said. Jinshi and his right hand want to use MaoMao as a pawn in their plan, tying to Jinshi's secret. Here's an excerpt about it: Maomao and Jinshi have a distant relationship, with Jinshi often approaching Maomao with a formal and somewhat distant demeanor. He is intrigued by Maomao and finds her apathy amusing, she perceives him as manipulative and uses her intelligence to maintain a safe distance. Over time, their relationship does evolves, with Jinshi revealing a softer side and showing genuine interest in Maomao's well-being. Initially, Jinshi, as a high-ranking official, treats Maomao with a formal and sometimes manipulative approach. He sees her as a tool to be used for his purposes and does not initially display a strong personal attachment. Maomao, with her keen observation skills, recognizes Jinshi's true nature and avoids getting too close. She views him as someone who often lies and is not trustworthy. As the story progresses, Jinshi's personality changes. He begins to show more genuine affection for Maomao, revealing a childish side and a willingness to prioritize her feelings. While the manga doesn't explicitly define their relationship as romantic initially, their interactions demonstrate a growing connection, as Jinshi demonstrates a willingness to take actions based on her feelings and even chooses to let her leave rather than use his power over her. It's also worth noting that Jinshi hasn't displayed overt romantic or sexual interest in anyone other than Maomao, making it difficult to definitively say if his interest in her is purely romantic or if it has other motivations. Natsu Hyuga, the author of "The Apothecary Diaries," has acknowledged outside pressure to write a "happily ever after" ending for Jinshi and Maomao. However, she has also expressed that she prefers to focus on a more organic and complex story, where characters' lives continue beyond a simple romantic resolution. She believes that the world of the story, with its secrets and schemes, demands a slower, more nuanced development of their relationship. While acknowledging the pressure, Hyuga has stated that she wants to avoid a standard "happily ever after" ending. She wants to create a more complex and realistic narrative where the characters continue to grow and evolve, even after confessing their love. Hyuga's preference for a slower pace in the romance reflects her desire to portray the complexities of love within the context of the political intrigue and secrets that dominate the story. Love the energy Jinshi was bringing this episode against that awful woman. Even had Maomao a little shook. That new enuch looks like the lady who faked her death. Things are getting even more tense now, especially if Lakan is potentially coming back into the story. Also...God dammit! Don't hurt Xiaolan
