Just so everyone knows: The notion that vampires can walk on walls comes from two sources. First, all of the smaller bats have the uncanny ability to find toe-holds on surfaces that to us, seem sheer. They also can fit effortlessly into ridiculously tight spaces with ease. The insides of bat houses are scored and roughened to give them easy grip. That way, more than 50 of them can roost in a single bat house. As for vampires of legend, that bit comes directly from Stoker's book, Dracula. In the book, Jonathan Harker looks out the window of the room Dracula has imprisoned him in. There, he sees, below him on the windswept wall of the castle, the dark shape of Dracula himself moving downward (head first). By extention, one could assume that Cazador and Astarion's siblings also had this ability. They would still have to be invited in at the window if they'd never been in the house before, but it gives them a distinct advantage, even for peeping and spying. As someone who spend several years studying vampire legends, I was very pleased that Baldur's Gate was being attentive to some of the lore; something many of the TV shows don't do. I for one can't get enough of Astarion and Staeve, and I hope we will continue to see them as often as practical!
