Y'all I went to a YOUTUBE CREATOR DAY event I was invited to on Friday. It was fun but super weird and very network-y. There was a strong emphasis on collaboration but 90% of the people there did beauty/makeup tutorials and I don't have a lot of common ground with them, haha. A lot of the YouTube advice seemed cool but a lot of it is really "off-brand" for me/seems borderline gross to me so I'm gonna think about it some before implementing any of it. A LOT of the stuff YouTube suggests (let's say in their online help center, not in the events, since I signed an NDA haha) encourages parasocial relationships which kind of skeeve me out and which I'll probably do an essay on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parasocial_interaction
I also saw Green Room in a theater where tickets were $15 and saw/met Barry Crimmins the same day. It was an extremely weird and wonderful day.
Also I'm gonna try to actually get caught up on captioning and video commentaries soon. Sorry that I've lapsed so much on that. When I have time/energy to work on stuff I tend to just make another video essay but I should be doing other stuff too.
New update vid probably tomorrow with a tiny bit of footage/some photos from the YouTube thing and new essay by the end of the month. Bless y'all!!!! Thank you so much to everyone for supporting me! The Patron payout for the Hot Fuzz video helped me out SO MUCH this month haha, y'all don't even know. And the way Patrons/subscribers grow after every video is kind of astounding to me.
Also let me know if there's more stuff you would want to see in exclusive updates and in the public update videos. I'm gonna start listing movies I've seen and stuff in the update videos to make them a little broader (though I won't ever charge for them, don't worry- charging for something that takes like an hour to make seems awful haha) but I feel like people who would want a lot of info on me would just follow my twitter instead. But who knows.
