EXCITED ABOUT HITTING $800!!! AND 20K SUBS!! + monthly versus per-video (looking for input)

Aaaaa!!! $800 is so much!!! Thanks, y'all! That's wild!! (here's a pic of me and a chihuahua to celebrate)

Also, as kind of an experiment, I added a goal of $2.5K per month with the idea that at 2.5K I could comfortably switch to monthly charging vs per-video charging. $2,500 is a lot but I could make that now at a few shorter videos a month so it doesn't seem that outlandish to me. I think monthly charging would make me stress less about deadlines (especially when technical issues come up, which they always do!!) and would be more stable for patrons at one charge a month vs "for whatever Shannon gets done a month". LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK. If patrons overwhelmingly think this is a bad idea I can just delete it lol because it's not like I'm hitting that goal tomorrow.

Hitting $800, especially so quickly after being at around 200-400 for so long, is a really big deal to me. I remember someone I knew (who I no longer talk to as of years ago, haha) making fun of a $500 goal I had when I started out, as if that was outlandish or some kind of pipe dream. So as much as I try to avoid seeking validation from numbers, it's very cool and heartening to realize this is DEFINITELY a viable career for me after working so hard at it for 3-4 years despite how much time and work (and luck lol) it's taken.

For Fake Friends 3 I want to travel the US some and interview academics and to pay for travel for myself and friends (and also hopefully pay them to help me with it and not just cover expenses!) I'd need a lot of money. So hopefully I can keep my momentum going and get closer to that range! If I hit 2K I might add another goal for, like, plane tickets and hotel or AirBnB costs and all that. I have debt and bills so even at 2K for a bit a lot of it will be catching up to being more stable myself before I start getting super ambitious (though I am already too ambitious and I already travel a lot for cons and film festivals and stuff even though I'm broke, haha...).

Also, I definitely don't mean this as a disparaging comment towards other youtube folks, some of whom are good friends of mine, because everyone is entitled to their privacy, but I don't ever plan to hide the amount of money I make on here. If I started making a huge amount of money I can promise you'd see it in the videos, whether it would be me hiring other people for their work/input or traveling to film stuff or whatever, paying animators or VFX people, doing some kind of live event (like a film festival or something, idk), even doing charity work or some kind of spotlight series or something (I would love to be able to donate money here or there or start a scholarship fund or something like that). For me the Repeat Stuff video was a huge step up in visual detail and audio quality ALREADY made me really happy to actually be proud of something without feeling a lot of "oh I wish this part had been better" in the back of my head and made me feel a lot closer to self-actualizing, if that isn't too pretentious a way to put it :). SO THANKS!
