My friend and I made a short video game! + captioning news + Spider Day

My friend David (who made TV Night, which got some attention in the indie horror game let's play community, and who has done some voice work for Critical Bits and runs the CB discord) asked me if I wanted to help him make a game for the Haunted PS1 Wretched Weekend Jam. So together (he did most of the work haha) we made Smalls Island Woes. We made it in just a couple of days so it's very short/simple but it was super fun to make and the response has been really good so far!

I did all of the character art and some of the environment art and wrote most of the character dialogue and he did the fisherman's dialogue and all of the environment text and also built out and programmed the whole thing. Me, Paul, and Shelby from Critical Bits along with our friend Jack David did the voice acting.

Here's some of the character art I did without the game's filter on it-

I recorded a playthrough of it for patrons (which is the video you see embedded here!) but I didn't really need to I guess because multiple people have already done let's plays of it haha. David has also done an updated version of the game with some more content added that he put out after I recorded the playthrough.

Would patrons be interested in a recording of the updated version of this game with commentary from David and I? I think it would be fun to do.

Also I am working on captioning my video backlog. My goal is to caption new videos within a day or two of when they come out and to try to caption two old videos a month. I also set up a ko-fi if people wanted to donate towards a transcription/captioning fund though right now with that fund I'm focusing that on captioning the Critical Bits backlog which will probably cost us $4000+ total to caption.

Spider Day is this weekend! I'll probably do another post about it around Thursday or Friday. We have our new huge bonus episode premiering and have games all weekend to raise money for a local ATL charity. I'm so excited about this year's Spider Day. A lot of people y'all may be familiar with played characters in it- Maggie Mae Fish, Dan Olson, Mark Meer, SuperEyepatchWolf, Jack Packard, Will, Matt, and Chris from Chapo, Branson, Joe, and Tim from Rude Tales of Magic, and a ton of other folks. 

The streaming schedule may change a bit but here's the basic outline-

I'm still working on Inside Out and a ton of other projects as well.
