11/20 Update

I have been working on contract/part time work on weekdays and have been busy every single weekend, so I've barely touched the essay since the last update apart from making selects and trying to rework some of the script. On top of being busy with work and family/friend stuff I had a minor health issue and some other random stress this month though I'm much better now. So it goes.
Here's a secret(?), though- I was asked once again to contribute to the Sight & Sound poll for best video essays for this year! It should be coming out sometime in the next few weeks?? As always I'm very flattered to be included. I only submitted three videos but I tried to keep them interesting. Here's last year's! I look forward to seeing the 2023 one!
And I've only ever done this under a pseudonym before but I'm getting a little more comfortable sharing fandom stuff more widely- I'm also going to be a contributing writer for a One Piece zine based around Sir Crocodile. Whether I'll add it to my ao3 account and out myself for all the other stuff I've written is another story.
I am debating on pursuing more contract work in December or just letting myself have a break* (*that I will fill with personal YouTube channel work instead). I need a couple of minor dermatological surgeries (not urgent) and extensive dental work (slightly more urgent lol but not terribly) and trying to balance that and rent with taking time for myself now that I've quit having a full-time job is hard. I would love to live in a world where I make thousands of dollars a month on Patreon and can focus fully on passion work while satisfying the foundation of my Maslow pyramid but I don't know how realistic that is with the videos I like to make. Life is all about trade-offs, I guess!
