No charge post this month!
Added 2024-02-29 22:09:18 +0000 UTCHey everybody! I've been super busy with freelance this month and also skipped work for a few days because I wasn't feeling well.
Ultimately I didn't feel like I got far enough in Bowling Alone (and didn't do enough essay work generally) to warrant charging. I really appreciate having it as an option but I'm in a much better place financially than I was in January and I'd rather only charge if I can give solid patron-only content and/or worked a lot on an essay.
Bowling Alone is so valuable but also (so far) has a pattern of starting a new chapter on a new topic, 20 pages of dry statistics, then Putnam being like "yeah the culprit was generational change/individualism again". Like the Scooby-Doo unmasking meme where the reason Americans are more isolated is always growing individualism. That's my only real noteworthy commentary on the book so far.
I bought a bunch of other books to read as well (Mark Fisher, Vincent Bevins, etc) and probably need to cut that off soon. I'm really enjoying having a reason to educate myself though. I can feel myself further galaxy braining with every page.
