Hey gang, this isn't a fun one, so strap in, and if you don't care to read it, I'll do a TLDR at the bottom.

This will be upsetting.

For the past few months, one of my cats has been getting sicker and sicker. We've brought him to the vet multiple times since July, and he gets a bit better and worsens. I don't want to get into the details, but it's been very messy, gross, stressful, time-consuming, and depressing.

He was getting better, and then he took a dive this week. We consulted with a vet over chat at 11 PM last night, and they said we needed to take him to the ER. So, I ordered a Lyft and took him to the ER. They wanted to hold him for a few hours, so I returned home and tried to sleep.

I got a call at 2 AM, and after talking to the vet, they said there is a good chance he has cancer. They wanted to do all these things to help him, which is awesome, but they told me it would cost around $6,000 to $8,000.

I'm just a small time indie dev, I don't have that kinda money. They said they could send me home with some medicine to help ease him, but he probably needed either surgery or euthanasia. I took the meds and had to pay around $800 for the whole visit.

He isn't eating, can't use the bathroom, and is lethargic. We're taking him to our usual vet tomorrow, with whom we have a care plan. But there is a good chance that this week, I need to euthanize my cat.

I've been dealing with this for half a year, and it's been very stressful and depressing. I feel like it's why I've been burnt out since when I'm not working I'm taking care of my cat.

Obviously, this is going to impact development of the game. I don't know how much, but if the worst happens, I'm definitely going to take until New Years to recover. I mean, it's Christmas, my Birthday, and New Years. Add onto that my cat is probably dying.

I have turned off comments because, honestly, I'm really going through it right now and need to deal with my emotions. I am making this post so people know what's up and don't think I've abandoned the game.
